Direct mode 0.8 and sweetfx/reshade?

Just wondering if anyone knows if you can use sweetfx or reshade while running in steamvr direct mode? Loving having full runtime 8 support but I can't adjust NVidia settings for direct mode so I have black smearing... a wrapper like sweetfx or reshade would fix it but not sure if it would only apply it to the monitor window, not the headset?

No it crashes for me with that error in the reshade log.

Things I've tried so far -

Turn off steamoverlay
Reshade from reshade.me
The Horizons Graphics package (name escapes me but its essentially just a preset + reshade.me)

Things I haven't tried -

Stripping out all the effects from the launch profile
Posting the problem on the reshade.me forum

I switched back to .6 (mistake as it has serious periodic tracking weirdness) to get reshade.me working. Still trying to decide if the visuals are worth it.

I've just started using the runtime switcher instead on the same install and can confirm that extended in 5.0 is much, much better frame rate than steam vr

yes, I've tied as well with SweetFX. The game didn't crash, but the SweetFX settings had no effect (Horizon's 64 bit on win7).

I thought it is working on 0.8 as it shows the credits for it when I start ED in the upper left corner for like 15 seconds and the graphics on planets and stations, etc sure had me believing it was working. Otherwise direct just looks naturally beautiful.

What OS are you on? When I looked into the switcher last week, there was a issue with runtime 05 and Windows 10 build 10586.

Did you try to confirm sweetfx effect was on by toggling on/off button(I beleive ctrl+scroll-lock)?

No Toggle for Reshade just on when you launch. Top left in Client window when I launch. You do have it load the setting to the SweetFx.CFG file in the Reshade folder which with the 64 bit is in the Products - Elite Dangerous 64 folder

Win 10 - 0.8 - Horizons

I use reshade too with horizons and to me ctrl-scroll lock works for the toggling on/off.

That just means it is working in the secondary window. I don't think its working in the actual oculus feed. doesn't do so for other games (haven't tried ED with direct mode)

EDIT: http://reshade.me/forum/suggestions/1066-reshade-to-support-different-rendering-processes#8463

ReShade dev is aware of the issue, and will attempt to fix when the CV1 is out. That's great news :)

Who knows if the CV1 will even need it? :D

I think you are right cause it actually looks pretty good in Direct.

Not just that, but the software, somewhere in the pipeline, always adds gaussian blur to avoid a very jaggie-d image, and lumasharpen in sweetfx combats that to get a clearer one (albeit, bringing back the jaggies). With a better resolution and more defined pixels, it might not bother with the blurring...can't wait to try it

There is way too much green in the image due to how the OLED panel works. Direct mode color inaccuracies are the same as extended mode, unfortunately. A 3D LUT improves accuracy a great deal and sorts out issues with black clipping in the game.

The 1.0 SDK and drivers probably won't be available until 28th March at the earliest. As Oculus have said that's when they'll ship them (with the hardware).

I think Rift support and rift-releated game patches will follow swiftly from all quarters after that. A lot of software developers want their products to be the first on the rift.
