Directional Indicator in HUD

Hi, so while driving in my car today i had a thought on how it would be helpful to have a directional indicator for the HUD. Now this would be something along the lines of a maybe a color gradient overlay that indicates which direction you are moving in space. Would be very useful when flight assist is off in my opinion. Its not impossible as it is now, but when in combat i find it hard to see what direction i am moving when flight assist is off.

I dont know maybe this was a silly idea, but it would make sense that the ship knows what direction its moving, compared to what direction the bridge is pointing, and therefore would make it possible to have an option to overlay that data into the HUD.

Let me know what you guys think, and fly safe commanders

On the older games, (Frontier Elite 2, Frontier 2 First Encounters) there used to be an indicator showing the direction your ship was travelling in space relative to where it was pointing in space. I guess it was required by those however (as they had fully Newtonian flight models) and was removed from ED because it well, doesn't.

It would be a useful addition for FA off however.

Yeah, what i imagined was something like an overlay on the HUD that comes on when you turn Flight Assist off. Like an arrow or crosshair, that you could have the option to turn on or off entirely from the functions window on your left screen.

That is exactly why we have the space dust in the game despite many of us hating it lots of players wanted it removed but FD say its in to help players know which direction they are going, so very doubtful you'll get any other indicators on top of the dust.

I really think this needs to be implemented. An inertia indicator would probably cause more people to stick to FA off and it would create a whole new (and improved) experience for players.

The correct term is VVI (Velocity Vector Indicator) or FPM (Flight Path Marker). And it's inclusion in western HUDSs for military aircraft of all kinds is a rather nice feature. I would like something like this as well. It would very very useful for fighting, flying on planets, docking on stations, etc.
And while at it, add a AoA and G meter. And get rid of all that useless flashiness.
