Disable automatic side-panel pop-up

Well, it's been requested before, but since it's an ongoing nuisance I'm bringing it up again.

At the moment turning the camera to the lower left/right brings up the Target/Systems Panel, which catches the input. With head tracking or an extra joystick that happens a lot, often in the fray. Not good. There are ships having windows on the cockpits lower sides, and I'd like to use them. The panels are badly readable anyway when not in fixed view.

So, pretty please, add in an option to disable their arbitrary actions. We've got bind-able actions to bring them up when intended, after all.

As long as it's an option because I for one would not like this if it required some additional action to open the panel.

Thinking about ordering an Oculus Rift DK2... but I won't do that as long as I need to be so attentive where not to look during a fight. -.-

Honestly I use the keyboard and mouse and look directly at the panels to use them most of the time. But I think an option to turn off that functionality would be great. Might even use it myself when just chilling through space and want to get a nice view out the side.

Isn't that what "Disable camera UI lock-on" is for in the graphics options?

Unfortunately not, it disables the camera turning & locking there when you activate the panels with keybinds. For people with 3# tfts in a horizontal setup where the panels are shown anyway.

This option does not work at all on a triple-setup.
True, the sidepanels are always on, but they are cut in the middle so they are useless.
The option sais for very wide screens i.e triple monitors. 5760 x 1980 is very wide in my eyes.
Unfortunately 5760 does not seem to be wide enough.

With a triple setup it does not make any sense to move the sidepanels into the middle.

So please, yes, make it optable in generell whether sidepanels pop-up AND fix the already available option for triple monitors.

First post - eh voila :)

Yes i agree, i have 3 monitor setup and had great hopes for this option. Useless as you say as you cannot see them in full.

Not quite sure what the problem is here. I use an OR and have never found the side panels popping a problem during combat or indeed any other time.

Good idea, just needs a toggle right under the Orbit Lines on/off

Yes, a config switch would be the best solution for all I think. When off, people need to actually press the panel keys/buttons. Personally I wouldn't use it but I can appreciate that not every one is me! lol (thank God!)

I'm planning on getting the Rift when the commercial version comes out, and can imagine how this could be annoying with them popping up when you look to the side.
Hopefully they'll add the option to make them manual only.

+1 for annoying. Some ships oddly are worse than others.
But, if you activate the chat panel it stops focus being stolen and the window popping up. Obviously not great but....

+1
Using a POV hat to look around, I find it quicker and easier to use keybinds to look at side panels (next to the keys I need to use to navigate them anyway). The vast majority of times a side panel pops up because I look at it, it was unintentional, and sometimes a little irritating.
