Disable but not destroy enemy ship

Is it possible currently to disable an enemy ship but not destroy it. I'm thinking for Piracy purposes disabling the FSD of a ship to prevent them from attempting to run or more pointedly targeting their weapons system/shield generator to make them vulnerable to give them an opportunity to not be destroyed if they give up peacefully. I know it's possible to target subsystems, but not sure if it's really effective, or really makes a difference.

If you destroy FSD or powerplant, the ship explodes immediately.
If you wat to stop it from moving, (well, maneuvering - it will still move with the last vector) destroy the drives.

Targeting subsystems works fairly well. If I'm liberating cargo from...fat cats, I'll target the cargo hatch. Soon, you see canisters start spewing out into the vacuum. When targeting Anacondas in a group, I like to target the sensors, as that *should* screw with its targeting.

If you want to disable a ship, you can target its thrusters, leaving it dead in the water. Without thrust, they can't jump into FSD either.

Power distributions system and radiators work nice, radiator damage might kill your opponent though if they fail to turn everything off before they over-heat.

Know that when destroying the drives off a player ship that it currently leaves them stranded in space with no way of returning to station.

If it is a player, take out their scanner and they cannot dock as it leaves them unable to target the station despite being able to fly, cruel but effective punishment for aholes.

Or thrusters, let them drift until they have to blow themselves up.

Question, which is easier to take out, both targeting and damage points?

This may be the best solution then. My end desire is not to destroy but hinder. I wish there was something in between, like a temporarily disabling or jamming their FSD so that in the end they will be able to leave unscathed.

I may want to be a pirate, but not an intentional jerk.
