Disable cruise ship messages, PLEASE

Please, please and pretty please, can we disable (or at least reduce) these messages?

They don't add anything to the gameplay and are simply polluting my comms log.
Same for the wedding barges.

Thanks.

I think it would be best if they were not sent to "Local" but to "System", especially since these spam messages are actually visible throughout the system. We would then only see them if we selected the system-wide messages tab. I don't know why they stopped us hiding the "Local" messages - blinkin' annoying.

Sorry but as a pirate I have to disagree. Those messages are quite useful for us to target NPCs. May I suggest if you don't like the messages then either move to a system that is in a different state (Civil war, War, outbreak, famine, Incursion) or you can change the state of the current system you are in if you don't want to move. If you make/find a place that isn't welcoming to cruise ships you'll get a lot less of them. Hope this helps.

I suggested a while ago that these indirect messages should only be visible when targeting said ship, as if you're tuning in to their internal frequency.

This can then be expanded, to have private conversations from nearly all NPC's, giving clues as to their intentions, cargo, destination, etc or just some funny banter.

For example, an NPC trader could say "I feel real nervous about carrying all this, without any escort! I'm gonna have a word with management when we dock!"

So having them as System Messages would still let pirate scum have fun and let the rest of us be spared the ubiquitous spam. (Your suggestion is noted and consigned to the place it belongs ... :poop: ;) )

Aren't you a lovely person. Someone steal your cargo/Send you to the rebuy recently? 😂😂😂

I had a similar though to CMDR Cosmic Spacehead....but maybe requiring an additional spy/espionage module of some sort. It makes zero sense in the game universe for a cruise ship / wedding barge to be broadcasting their internal comms to an entire system, and same goes for convoy ships/escorts talking about their cargo / formations and giving each other orders over public comm channels. Just....stupid. It would be awesome, though, if by using an additional module, you could go out of your way to intentionally gather actual USEFUL information from other ships' internal comms systems. Although I imagine that would take a lot of extra programming and building in higher levels of NPC persistency and things like that to make anything connect to anything else and have any effect on anything. But hey, would be awesome.

ED already provides a way to disable these messages - find the originating ship and destroy it.

I do wish I could better filter comms - like, only player messages, or no player messages, etc.

This makes sense. The only NPC chatter I pay attention to is from the pirate who is about to interdict me and they are direct messages, not local chat. But if I have a particular NPC targeted then flavour chat might give some context.

It sounds like what we need is a way to have conversations with npc ships... a lone vulnerable ship may be an opportunity for pirates, but could also be an opportunity for an impromptu Defend NPC contract, E.g.: "I'll give you 100000Cr if you help me get me and my cargo to X system, Y station intact"

But how else would these poor cruise ships captains anger you otherwise?
Sometimes I think that it would stop if I only killed a couple of them. But I didn't, so the game punish me.

Toggles for the message types would be optimum.

If the FSS could be set to pick up audio comms from ships revealing potential targets and locations, that might make the thing a little more interesting.

If I may add to the OP - the amount of messages one has on comms panel after participating CZ is ridiculous. Could be helpful no to show them all unless I want to scroll up and see. Usually (no, 100% of times) all these messages are garbage and should be cleaned up immediately after the combat.
