Disable TM warthog Throttle LED's?

So, I've finally got the Warthog and love it. Except for the LED lighting on the throttle.
It appears the only way to disable the damned things is to turn them off in the TARGET software. Problem is every time I restart the computer the LED's are back on again.

Why on earth there is no way to dim/turn off directly on the throttle itself without having to install unecessary software is anyones guess, even my £30 mouse has the ability to hardcode the option into it's memory.

Anyone else found a permanent solution?

Can you not set the brightness in the windows game controller settings? In W10 I had to search in settings for "set up USB game controllers" to get the game controllers window and from there I could bring up the properties for the MFDs and change the brightness level in there - can you not do the same thing with the Warthog throttle?

Nope, no options for that.

Electrical tape?

That would make for a pretty ugly solution with the number of labels to cover :)

Other than unplugging it I've never found a way. I cover mine (and the stick) in a dust cover thick enough to block out the light when not in use.

Bit of an oversight by TM for something so simple to implement.
I'll probably stick with launching TARGET every time I turn the PC on and re-select the disable LED option. Bit of a first world problem but it's the little things that annoy me :)

You should also be able to set the brightness of them in windows (type in joy.cpl) but whiel it will remember the settings between when oyu shut down and turn on your pc, you have to go back in and click the sliders for it to seem to remember its supposed to be set to that setting. Because windows.

Whilst windows is the usual suspect for most issues I don't believe it's the case with this one. The answer surely is to have an onboard memory profile which the PC loads on start up. Simples. If my £30 mouse can do it I reckon a £350 bit of kit should be able to do it too.

I also was getting very tired of the bright leds. I found a 5 year old solution and it works perfectly. I didn't turn mine off just lowered the intensity but you can turn them off if desired. It is a console application. After you set the throttle LEDs close the app. I haven't found out if it is persistent after a reboot of the pc, just tried it a few minutes ago.

Little black sticky dots:
Fingernail polish is considerably easier to apply, those dots all have to be deliberately cut into various shapes to look professional. The black fingernail polish blends in with the black paint perfectly. I applied one coat and it was almost entirely remedied, a second did the trick.

Lovely!
Seems a shame for such an expensive bit of kit that you can't adjust it directly on the machine.

Remember car model lens paint?
My concerns would be removing it without blemishing the polystyrene with acetone or isopropyl
Or... next model is AURA/whatever capable
