Disappearing bodies

Hi all,

I took on some salvage missions last night where I had to retrieve something from a crash site. In each case, NPC scavengers beat me to the punch, so I promptly ran over them with my SRV. You know, like you do.

I got out of my SRV to complete the mission and went on a search for their bodies so I could scan them, but in each case I couldn’t find any of the people I’d run over. Not a trace... each and every time.

This definitely didn’t happen in the Alpha. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a bug? By design? Bad luck due to it being night and super dark?

Leaving any vehicle remove all bodies. This is probably to deprive you of the additional bounties should you use the easy way to kill them.

Yeah, they seem to disappear when you get out of the SRV. Guess it's a bug.

Not always - I've killed a lot of scavengers with my SRV over the last few days. Sometimes they disappear, sometimes their floating 6' above the surface. I initially assumed it was semi-instancing/transition related (disembarking from Srv), but the last Crash site I was at the corpses were floating, the last settlement I wast at the corpses disappeared.

Which begs the question: Are the floating bodies the bug or the disappearing bodies?

Done. The issue tracker is the first place I usually go. This time I came here first because I felt that I was just missing or not understanding something about the gameplay. It's sad that sometimes I spend as much time there as I do in the game. Fortunately, that's not always the case.

I'm pretty sure the floating bodies are not intended. But I wonder why there is such inconsistency? Inconsistency seems to be the overarching theme of Odyssey.

They also disappear when you are on foot i have killed NPC scavenges and befor i get the scanner out they have gone so getting out of SRV have little to do with it, it's the body derezzed timer on a short fuse.

Another FDEV'S at their best, WE ARE CHEATED.

I did my first ground mission tonight with a buddy, followed his lead. Weird thing... he had an SRV and I did not. He parked it outside the PWR room entrance and we went in to slaughter everyone and just about 99% of the people I killed just vanished, gone right after I shot them dead. No bodies on the floor, just gone. When my friend killed someone, that body was visible to him but not always to me. Also, he could see the people I killed, sometimes and sometimes not. This could be a problem, for me, if I kill someone and need to clone them, but if they vanish there's no body to clone. Weird.

That actually made sense, for a minute, until I remembered that my friend tonight was looking at a body and told me what that body was, what Security Level and told me to Clone it, but it wasn't there for me :(
