Newcomer / Intro Disappearing Money

So, I limped into port recently, and discovered that my balance was about half what I' expected it would be, 2,500,000 CR as opposed to the 5,000,000 I thought I'd saved up. I hadn't bought anything. I thought that the repairs I needed were only a few thousand. And then it struck me that I think this may have happened before.

I'd was just attempting my first go at PVP bounty hunting before this happened, and I had defiantly come off the worse.

Earlier in my career I'd been killed by a player pirate and re-spawned with my ship (insurance paid out) but only 1000 CR in cash.

Am I experiencing some weird bug?
Or is there some mechanic that I'm not aware of?

The time I died I thought I had 1,800,000 CR in cash and my insurance was 890,000 CR. I woke up with my ship and 1000 CR and a confused expression.

Insurance shouldn't have had anything to do with my latest puzzle, as I didn't die.

Well, from the 1000Cr I would assume you accidentally choose to start anew instead of buying your ship back on the insurance screen.
But to be honest, I have no idea.

It would be best to mention this in Bug report forums and open a ticket. Maybe someone will notice you and look into it.

Last time I heard of something like this the player in question was told that he had spent the money in outfitting by support. They were right. Just try to recall any recent purchases before contacting support.

I think I remember that thread.

He'd had a few alcoholic beverages and bought a load of gear in outfitting before going to bed then came on here ranting about it before he remembered... He was a good guy, came back on to admit his error.

There is the possibility that I've gone mad, and that the bug is located between the keyboard and chair. I just can't think where it could have gone. If nobody else has a better explanation, I guess it must be my error.

I'm pretty sure I lost a bit under 2 million.

Don't forget buyback is ship cost.. Upgraded moduals add to that figure
