Horizons Disconnections!!!!!!!!!!

Yet another lengthy mission failed because I could not land due to constant DISCONNECTIONS to server. To enable completion to hand in the mission.
This is making the game UNPLAYABLE!
Suggestions anyone?

At your end?

Check your internet connection, reset your router, check for any programs or services taking up a lot of your internet bandwidth.
Check cables (you could have loose connection or intermittent break in a network cable. If you have one, check your filter box (a lot of older (none fiber) internet setups require them & they can break randomly.

Over WiFi? Check for interference from other sources (some protocols are worse than others). Does your pc have a decent quality connection to it's router over WiFi? Is port forwarding required or is your firewall limiting network access for ED?

Wider:

Check with your ISP, are they having issues? Is there work or upgrading being done on their network. Are they throttling your internet connection for whatever reason?

In short, there are lots of reasons why it could be happening. Best that you can do realistically is reset your router, limit any other downloads and ensure that your firewall whitelists Elite Dangerous.

It's not the game ... the vast majority of us have no problems .... so you definitely need to do something at your end ... even if it means attaching a cable between your computer and router to see if it is a wi-fi issue.

Done that too, direction connection makes NO difference it still randomly disconnects from FD server, usually when disengaging from super cruise. Occasionally logging to the alternative Solo Play helps break the deadlock, but not always,
Driving me crazy, nothing else on my wifi network suffers any problems.

Hi Asp Explorer, router is a Huawei HG633, software version is:-v2.00T, hardware version is:-H.1.01, Cannot find the firmware version.

Hmmm - I'm not familiar with that model - from a quick look it seems to be quite problematic. Manually setting MTU to 1400 appears to be a fix for some people with constant dropouts - worth giving that a try.

It's not great, slow WiFi compared to other routers no 1000mbps ethernet port... Basic is the best way to describe it.

Supports usually advise to set your system with IPV6, whatever that means, I'm internet/computer illiterate so I never even bothered trying and just accepts my connection is dodgy.

Thanks everyone for your advise, I've just spent goodness knows how long fiddling with my router settings and PC connections only to find out my ISP TalkTalk do NOT support IPV6 so I guess i'm stuck with intermittent disconnections.

Hi Spexman,

I don't use IPV6 only IPV4.

At the present time and for the foreseeable future IPV4 will be fine, so I doubt that is what is causing your disconnections.

Are you using a wired or wireless connection?

Is there anything in the event logs about disconnections?

Does this only happen with Elite?

I would set up a log to see what is happening.

To do that use google to find out how to set that up for your os.

Then report back with what you find.
