Ships Discounts and ship-selling

Been wondering a couple things, since I read on some guide somewhere that you should sell your upgraded components before selling off a ship. However, I thought that those components are always factored into the sell-price.

1) Hypothetically, if i bought a ship for full price at Station A, and then sold it at Station B which offers the same ship at a discounted price, would I receive the amount I paid or the amount they're offering for the ship?

2) Is there any reason to sell off components before selling a ship, or would I get the same amount other way?

Thanks.

Yes I believe when you sell your ship (with all of your upgrades still on it) that you only get a percentage of the upgraded parts' value. When you sell your upgrades individually (or replace with the cheapest version for the critical systems) you get the credits that you originally spent, back. This is useful for trying out upgrades, as you can buy them and sell them back at no loss. As far as the ship's value goes I want to say that a station will give you the lowest price of the ship. Or maybe it's 90% of the original value. Something like that, this stops people from buying an ASP for 6mil at one station then selling it another for the purchase price only to buy it back for that second station's 5.9mil price. Anyways check the wikia. I'm sure there is a really good answer there.

1) When you sell a SHIP you get 90% of the value PAID for SHIP AND COMPONENTS. Buy a ship at a discount, receive 90% of what you paid when you sell it, regardless of the sale price at the station you are selling at. I have tested this, I bought a non discounted T7 and my friend bought one at a discount, after stripping equally, his sold for significantly less than mine at a station without discounts.

2) Selling off components gives you the FULL PRICE PAID for each component. If you bought the components at a discount, it is that same price, not the nondiscount price. Definitely worth doing before selling a ship.

These systems are designed to prevent farming creds this way, sell price is always based on what you paid, not what the station is currently offering.

I concur with Vertexico. I bought and loaded out an FDL that based on coriolis.io it is an 80 million dollar investment, see Exhibit A, link to FDL build reflecting 80.5million below. When I store this ship, in any other station so far, and then use the Shipyard menu to switch back to the FDL, the option to sell the FDL reflects a 59,000,000cr purchase value, which reflects the reduced price of the ship and the modules I had paid by and through discounts at Federation stations that are exploited or controlled due to my Post Commander title. If the station purchased the ship subjectively based on its pricing, I would receive a purchase offer for est.72,025,000.00cr after the 10%.

The 59,000,000 buyout of the ship and all components is what I have seen in every station that I have stored this ship and have switched between this ship and the second ship, despite any difference subjective to the station.

Thanks for the helpful info, Commanders.
I bought an Asp not too long ago, and I can barely afford to kit it, so I was considering selling it, but instead I think I'll just sell off all the components/upgrades and store it for a while. I should get at least 7 mil from just what I've put into it.

If you bought it at full price (6.1mil) then sell it for a cobra or something, do some missions around Alioth and get the permit. You should be able to sell a full price Asp for approx 5.5mil, more if you sell the modules first. When you get in there you can buy an Asp at 20% discount (Irkutsk Station for 4,908,527Cr - ish). If you then take it to the Li Yong-Rui systems around Lembava you can get 15% off all outfitting.
Should set you right :)
