Discovered a Ringed Earth-Like world

42,275 systems, 979,492ly, 300+ earth likes and I'm still waiting for one...

o7 CMDRs, nice find.

We couldn’t believe it and all the things that had to happen for us to stumble across it was just to much to comprehend, but very worth it

We've both been unlucky. The stats show ringed ELWs are 3% of the total; you "should have" found nine of them by now, and it's rather improbable for you not to have found any yet.

I have 70 Tagged ELWs in my own name and 36 more reported to the ELW thread which were Tagged by others; the only ringed one in that list is one of the reported ones which I knew was ringed before I went there, so I can't really count it as "mine".

Congrats Commander! Nice accomplishment! It's funny because yesterday I was just looking through a former system i discovered located on Marx's database. While I have found three ringed Earth likes during my travels, there is one that is far above the others. Or perhaps I should say below. During my search to beat Allitnl's distance record below the plane, I found a ringed Earth-like moon! It was also in a very rare circumtrinary orbit of two black holes and a neutron star. According to Marx's spreadsheet this is still the rarest Earth-like world found and recorded in the elite universe. Moreover the ELW is over 3100ly below the galactic plane - hundreds of ly below the next closest!

Titan: "Um... PI CHECK THE SYSTEM MAP"

Elite exploration in a nutshell. Was a great trip!

Congratulations, Commander +1
Thanks for posting and making us all feel inadequate ... ;)
For my next trip, which I plan to be to Star One, I am debating with myself whether not to return without a ringed ELW ... have I got the right stuff :S

Great find OP +1 rep

Iain, I think it's all to do with where you've been looking.
You mentioned on another thread that you've looked almost exclusively on the fringes of the galaxy.
I've found 17 ringed ELW's now (out of a total of 900 ELW's) and all of them have been found coreward of SOL.
I'll do a quick bookmarking session when I get the chance to show the distribution.
I would love someone to do a 3d map of just ringed ELW's, as I believe that most (if not all) will be shown to be well away from the edges of the galaxy.

OTOH, 9 of my 17 have been on the edge of the galaxy with a further one rimward of Sol. Probably got as much to do with small sample sizes and where we individually spend most of our time rather than anything else.

Hopefully someone can give a plot of where the ringed ELWs are although even with the full 641 from EDDB I suspect we are still very much in small sample size territory.

Lol, that blows my theory out of the water then :D
