' Discovered by ' in-game notification?

Hello, Commanders. I'm currently on my iPhone so sorry if there are any grammatical mistakes. But anywho, I was just wondering, with the release of 1.1 and the implementation of the ' Discovered by ' system. How the heck does it actually work? How do I know when I am the first to discovery any and all astronomical objects in the verse'?

Please let me know, again, sorry for any errors that might've occurred that I didn't catch.

When you are the first person to sell the data on a celestial body to UC, you get a notification in the cartography window, and a bonus to the credits you get for the sale. Each body in system view will show 'discovered by' if it has been discovered. All you need to do is ping the body with your discovery scanner.

Wrong - no way in hell I've detail scanned over 13,000 bodies, pinging with DS is all it needs.

Interesting. I'll deliberately leave some stuff unscanned with the detail scanner and see what happens. I wonder why some systems have more than one discoverer? I'm guessing the first one to pass through only had a basic or intermediate scanner and didn't ping all the system bodies. Using a detail scanner on valuable bodies is something I won't be giving up though.

Nice, answered your own question ;)

But yeah, the detailed scan is where the shinies are at, so keep scannin' da cool stuff :D

Hi, pinging the discovery scanner isn' enough, you also have to scan the object by getting close to it. I don't think you need the DSS, the ordinary one will do. I have several first to finds, if I didn't scan the object, my name isn't against it.

just got 3 pages worth of these. Bonus credits for detail scanner and up to 9435 bonus credit for some stuff, moons etc not much cr reward, suns and planets seem to attract the bigger bucks, just got up to trailblazer with 3 small trips to the empty quarter!

Just back from exploring and it does seem that a detailed surface scan is in fact needed for the 'first discovered by' credit. I have an advanced discovery scanner which means all the bodies were revealed by a ping, but I deliberately didn't detail scan the outermost planet and its moons. So... that one isn't attributed to me.

As stated by Calvert above, I don't think a DETAILED surface scan is needed, but you do have to scan the individual object; not just do the initial BDS/IDS/ADS.

You now need to scan something to get the 'Discovered By Credit' - although I don't think you need a detailed surface scanner you do need to fly up and scan.

However- the retrospective granting of the tags for data sold prior to 1.1 was given for a ping only (according to MB they weren't auditing enough to know who'd just pinged and who had scanned)

Bonus is 50%. I have had over 15K for an Earth-like :)
