Just a little added incentive to explorers to plunge into the unknown. A note on the system screen saying "discovered by cmdr polo on 12/12/3300".

hehe it would be a cool when looking in the system it has been discovered by cmdr so and so, but not a huge must tho.

Also even if you explore a system you still haven't explored it fully, you need good scanners for detailed scans.. :D

Will be hard to implement, I think.
Whats name should be isted? The one first jumped in? The one who did scanned first?
What about planets, belts, moons? Each stellar body could have its one discoverer? And for each youhave to differ between discovered and surface scanned.

all good and true points conehead, but i don't think it would be so hard to implement. they already track discoveries through the system data mechanic. it would just be a case of finding somewhere good to display the info (per astronomical body). because then, looking at a system, you could see where someone gave up searching and where there might be gaps, or who's pushing the frontier but not looking deeply.
