Newcomer / Intro Discovered by......

I have been playing for a while now but have only just started exploring. I'm around 1500LY from SOL and have just come across an earth like planet. I was just wondering if I need to return my data back to colonized space to have the "discovered first by" tag or can I continue to Saggitarius A and return later? :) I think what i'm trying to say is, if it is discovered by another CMDR and the data sold before I have chance to sell it, will they be credited with the "discovered by" tag.

Yes they will. It is first to find and sell it. If you are heading to Sag A you will probably get your name on many more discoveries before you are finished. I'm not sure I would head back for a single planet.

You need to return with your data and sell them to Universal Cartographics but the galaxy is a huge place so don't worry about it if you want to keep exploring.

I don't think they are very common.

On your trip to Sag A try to stay off the most direct route. Apparently its well trodden and already has a lot of discovered systems.

A lot? Well sort of. Interesting systems, like carbon or non sequence have a chance of being scanned, but for main sequence stars, I seriously doubt you will see anything tagged much past 2k

Space isn't big, it's BIG

3k from Sag A and not seen an ELW (did get an ammonia world thou) . I have only been scanning every 500 or 700 ly, rest of the time, foot to the floor

I'm heading as the crow flies but around 150ly west of SOL. I've come across a couple of water worlds but no more earth like worlds in the past 1500ly. I'm scanning every system as I scoop up fuel but not much out here really.
