Well, as it becomes more-or-less clear that Xbox will have Engineers at the same time as PC, our ships are looking like they're about to get a major shake-up.

What kind of things do you think you'll like to do to your boat?

Discuss it!

I want to use my exploration ships and boost the FSD. Should make larger pushes more tolerable.

Seeing more variety in ship builds with weapons and modules with special effects really tickles me. I think it's all steps in the right direction.

See I've got over the RNG stuff. I was initially quite hostile over that... Anyone who saw my poll in DD will know what I'm on about.

But I've relaxed a fair bit now, and FD has assured that core upgrades we grind for, won't be taken away by a dice roll. This is ignoring negatives, and just looking at the core positive we seek.

Personally, I'm hoping that I'll be able to do something about the speed & mobility on my beloved Cobra Mk IV. I really don't give a damn about weapons. A couple of regular lasers, multicannon & missiles is all I need.

I'm far more interested in internal modules.

But if there's a mining laser mod... :D

Most of the upgraded seem PvP geared, which I don't like.
For jokes, I might get a Hauler, rename it Healer, get the Regeneration Beam and use it as a dedicated healer when I'm doing PvE in a wing.

Or a Medi-Conda...

A medi-conda is actually a pretty intriguing idea.

I'm probably going to try to 'roid out an exploration ships fsd, first things first. After that...idk

Well it seems that what the engineers will offer to do for you is based on rep with them and your relevant Elite rank.
So my main push is to polish off all 3 Elites before horizons drops, should give me an advantage with the engineers.
I take it you need top rep and Elite status to get the top tech.
I have a feeling that the effects they are showing us are going to need some work to get.
Also the different tech requires different Elite types so being Elite combat wont get you any of the tech thats trade/explorer based due to balancing.

Haha, I like it! That could be a pretty effective role actually, it could force PvPers to prioritize the Healing ship first. I already have the white on my Conda, just need to slap a Red Cross on there lol.

yeh well good luck with that

A lot of the really cool stuff seems to be weapons based, which I think Frontier have dropped the ball on. It seems to me that the majority of CMDR's prefer non-combat or less combat oriented careers.

I do support the RNG aspect though. There are a few too many people rocking the 'push this button to win' builds with their ships. This along with the changes to silent running I am hoping will even the playing field somewhat.

Not sure how much I am going to mess around with Engineers stuff initially as the whole planetary landings tourism side will keep me busy for a while (we get to see the Barnacles!!!!!) [big grin]

I am hoping that my recent trip to Sag A* will be enough to grant me access to the exploring based Engineer though! :)

I think there will be stuff for internals. The problem is it's hard to show those off in a livestream. They need to be experienced first-hand.

I was referring to the special effects (Healing lasers etc.)
There will be internal modding, but nothing with any special effects to my knowledge. :(

In fairness, it's hard to add a "special effect" to a mobility buff. :/

After spending time playing the Division and Destiny. I've come to hate RNG with a passion. To hear that word mentioned made by blood boil. But I do like that they aren't making it an endless pit of looking at a UI praying for a good roll. Other than that I'm really excited about getting my hands on this!

Any ideas for mining laser mods?Just spitballing here, but maybe a mod that makes the chunks fly off towards the underbelly of the ship? I guess an obvious one would be an upgrade that increases the amount of chunks...I'm going to start a new thread on this topic. I'd love to make mining more enticing now that ice mining is a thing.

Look forward to seeing your ideas.

'Reflective Shields' - Reflect a portion of energy damage back as heat damage.
'Nano-Glass' - AFMU can now repair Canopy Glass
'Advanced Limpets' - Each Limpet Drone can collect 2 items at a time.

There's a couple of ideas off the top of my head.
Just saying it would have been nice to see the special effects/attributes spread about more evenly instead of being so weapon-centric :)

Suggestions forum is there. Use it. FD are fairly open to ideas. :)
