Discussion Closed or Locked??!!

Why have certain threads been closed/locked with absolutely no explanation?
I thought this was the Discussion Forum.
I most definitely do NOT like the implications of this.
Are we now to believe that we are only allowed to discuss topics that FD approve of?
For me this is very sinister and very worrying.
