Discussion on BGS ideas

not a chance I missed that :D

-- but yeah, I think it would really be valuable to hear the thoughts of others, maybe especially smaller or newer/new-starting BGS groups and factions. Since most of those involved in this were big groups, it's always possible something was missed that is important to you.

After a quick read through is does sound like a small scale version of power play.
While I can understand why people want to pledge to their faction the consequences of open pledging are quite alarming.
Squadrons will give us the ability to put our faction name next to our own name and the ability to control it.
Powerplay is rife with 5th columnist, let's not go down that route

Only thing I’d like to see is if you can become allied to a faction their ships don’t interdict you while running their missions

You're only likely to be interdicted by the piratical branch of your own faction, who probably don't give two hoots anyway.

After a good read I think it's ok, still a bit powerplay like but I can see where your coming from.
Not sure about the PvP aspect as this will lead to shouts of open only.

Do these ideas potentially lead to big groups gaining control over lone-wolves?

As another poster mentioned, what if these sees non-pledged locked out of stations?

If true then that's a big nope.

I would welcome any improvements to the BGS gaming for ED.

I personally would like to see a new menu screen that displays a real time or a delayed log of the names of active CMDRs are who are fulfilling missions, trades, kills, etc in the system so that you can get a feeling that there may be other CMDR's that are watching what you are up to, especially if there is a player faction present in the system. And because your name and activities are known within the system, it would add some suspense when you see another CMDR's docked at a spaceport or in SC.

I think it would also add a real feeling of danger especially if you are a hostile in the system and this would make it something. (but it would only work in open mode only)

It would also benefit any CMDRs who are working that system's BGS to start to hunt down or make diplomatic contact with other CMDRs and make players play a role of enforcers or troublemakers.

But it would also probably need SOLO mode to be excluded from PP and any BGS manipulation inputs and any changes to PP or BGS to be available in OPEN mode only.

The suggestion was about making the security level of a system spectrum rather than binary and in response to civil unrest. Security only affects response timeand level of security and scan/interdiction rates and it does seem a little artificial that removing tens of thousands of pirates or having 1000s of murders make no difference to its security

Pledge to a MF - repeatedly killed by other players or alt accounts - impact on influence.
Simple exploit. The BGS system needs more than sparks.

But no more difficult or effective than shooting haulers at the nav beacon, of just being "murdered" in system now.
