Disincentive to open play not related to griefing

So, went to Tanmark to do my bit in the community goal. Signed up at Cassie L Peia, then headed out to the Nav beacon with a mate, in open play.

When we got there, we found 3 Player Annacondas floating stationary just blasting everything the moment it jumped in, with barely the slightest rotational adjustment of their ships.

Now, I'm not complaining about their actions. Whatever floats your boat. If you find sitting there stationary clicking the fire button every so often fun, who am I to argue.

I do however think it's a shame that:

A) There's not enough community goal targets spawn in to satisfy 1 let alone 3 players.

B) There's no scaling response to discourage/prevent this sort of approach which to me isn't a great advert for the game. Don't get me wrong. It's not the fault of the 3 players, they're just taking advantage of something the game allows them to do. The fault is in the game allowing it in the first place.

and C) The set up as it is discourages people from being in open play. My friend and I immediately went over to private group to get our fill.

I have always played in Open and always will. Community goals will attract this type of action. As will spawn sites and popular places such as Sol, Lave and Diso. There are some parts of some inner cities I will never enter, the same can be said for some parts of the galaxy in E:D. Am I bothered? no, because there is plenty of space and other other things to do.

Instead of going to sprivate, you could have just moved to a nearby system and hit the nav beacon there

open play means sometimes other players will be doing stuff that interferes with your game or desires -- that's the point, you then have to work around it either by trying something different, pushing them out, joining them, etc.

'not going to solo' is as simple as chooing not to go to solo. in this case you were just lazy -- chose to go to private rather than open your map, use your gry matter for a minute and do a hyperspace jump or two.

Well done on attacking the man and not the point at hand.

This community goal can only be completed in the one system. I was neither lazy, nor did I not use my grey matter.

I've posted my opinion here for the benefit of the developers, highlighting an issue which I feel is a disincentive to playing in open play.

You may decide that it doesn't bother you, and you'll continue to be in open play regardless. That's fine and I applaud it. However, it doesn't invalidate my opinion.

I'm simply implying that perhaps there could be a higher rate of npc spawns and also that they could be more random in the spawn in location so more players could be in the same instance and still benefit.

Also, what is the point in being in open play if your advice is to jump out and back in again to find an instance with no other players? I'm in open play because I want to interact with other players!!!

If you'd have said 'The reason why the spawn rate is so low is because it would cause issue X' I would have listened to you and I might have been convinced to change my opinion. However, if you're just going to follow the mould of needing to prove me wrong and yourself right using logical falacy, frankly, I'm not interested.

Yeah, so much about lazyness :). OP seems quite relaxed and makes valid points, it's guys typing away before comprehension kicks in that might prove a problem in game development further down the line.

I agree with you OP that this community goal has shown everyone the problem with having huge amounts of players hunting pirates. At the same time there's been some great player pirates floating around with bounties in excess of a million contributing to some great pvp moments.

slightly off topic below.
This community goal can only be completed in the one system.

Not true, go to Dakvar(Next system) resource extraction point. You still have to hand in in Tanmark though.
Happy hunting.

Ok, cheers for that. Maybe I misread the description.

But, again, moving to a different location where there are no other players is not the point.
