Newcomer / Intro Display stuck zoomed in .. argh!

Sometimes my display gets stuck zoomed in, a couple of times in space and once in the galaxy map so far (It was that big The search map input field filled a third of the screen).

It is as though I was pressing my nose against the screen (it really is that big!). Am I hitting a key combination for extremely short sighted players or something? ;-)

I'm not sure if I hit shift something, or what but the only way I've found to get back to normal is to restart the game.

How can I reset the display to normal?

When I do that, I just hit the same number key twice, like 2 for instance. The first 2 is the left hand menue up close, the second 2 releases it.

It seems to be caps-lock that gets me into the zoomed in state. Pressing other keys doesn't seem to have any effect.

Have this same issue. If I press the caps lock key by mistake, it zooms my field of view. the only way to fix it again (that I know of) is to close and relaunch the game.

Have checked my controls twice now and nothing has the caps lock key bound to it.

Try tapping the shift key - that's used for a semi zoomed position on my setup and not sure if I changed it to that or that was the default.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, the shift key semi zooms the view for me as well, but in my case does not fix the issue.

I'm going to update my graphics driver and take a look into the appdata files for elite to see what I might find as this seems like a screen resolution issue. What is curious is that for me, pressing the caps lock key initiates the problem. Looking through the Custom.binds file does not show anything mapped to caps lock.

I'll do some more searching and if all else fails, I'll program my keyboard to ignore the caps lock while playing Elite.
