Proposal Discussion Dissapointed fan - you forgot about me!

I played the hell out of Elite on the C64 and Amiga.
Until yesterday, all I'd known was that a new Elite was going to be made in the future some time, then I find that not only was a kickstarter campaign run, but its finished already!
And then I find that the premium beta has been and gone too!

Poor promotion or something, SC is all over the place but do I hear anything about Elite Dangerous? Nope.

So, I check out the shop, nice, I can get into the beta standard program, but hang on, its basically paying extra to play the game early, no advantage other than getting in to play incomplete content, nice but it makes me angry!

I want to pay for a full game, not 50 or 35 pounds for a crippled game where I have to pay another $20 every X months for an update like WOW, and I don't want to have to pay to play or pay to unlock content like SC!

Really upset, I'm thinking stuff it, if you wont give me the option to buy in to all content at once, then I wont buy in at all, I wont play WOW because they do this, I wont play SC because they do this, it sucks and you guys have done a bad job of bringing in players who have waited so long for this game.

Don't even know why I'm bothering to post, just so annoyed.

You can buy Beta (early access to test build)

Or Pre-order and join in Gamma towards the end of the year.

The all update option only stopped a few weeks ago, and would have been around £80 i think (including Beta?) I'm not sure about that.

While is it unfortunate that you missed out being part of the beta, this game will be amazing, and well worth getting onboard.

The update pricing is unknown as yet, and I would expect it to be reasonable..

THere are currently 2 updates planned (Planetary Landings And Out of Cockpit)

So these are exciting.

So for £35 you can join the full game at gamma, and be a part of it.

Then decide IF the updates are worth paying for..

I really think you are missing the point. It is not possible to compare with something like WOW, which is essentially dropping new skins, doing new continent, and that's all.

But ED expansions will add completely new gameplay, in essence it will be a new game. That's why they will be sold separately - because their development won't be cheap.

Expansion pass was available for sell for year and a half. They even delayed deadline for selling it again and again.

I feel you angry, but I really don't understand why and where's FD fault in that.

If you complain that you can't play game atm, then I suggest you don't - it's not complete game, it won't have all content as in finished game. Few months and you will play much better polished, much more "full" game. Beta is useful only if you really want to help with testing.

You start by complaining about not being given the chance to support the development of the game in the kickstarter period. You then move on to complaining about the cost of Beta access - the funds from which support the development of the game.

That makes no sense, and neither does you being upset, IMO.

I was like you. I had been looking for news on a new Elite for years, and I didnt spot this game till December.

Which if you look at the bright side it means Ive been teased with a new version of Elite for a year while for you its only a couple of month wait till release.

Not sure where your confusing lies. All you do is preorder the game like any other game. Its £35. Or if you want to help in testing (what to play now even though it unfinished) can pay another £15 on top for a sort of early access. (Its still a beta.)

Yes, coming in late you missed out on the life time DLC pack. But you still got a £35 game you will play for hours on end,

and trust me, even without the DLC it still has a hell of a lot more content and stuff to do than the original you probably played for hours on end. And its life span has the potential to be many more times that of any other game thats been released this decade. So you cant really consider yourself being ripped off in anyway.

My point is, I'd have been/would be happy to pay more!
I would have been in there pledging 100s if I'd known about it.

What I unhappy about is, now I know, I only have the opportunity to pay for a game that I will then have to pay for again and again - like WOW, to unlock new content or like SC, having to pay for content on a per thing basis.

50 or 35 means I'll get asked to pay again and again which is what I'm unhappy about, besides not getting to play the alpha/beta.

I see your point, and we can discuss back and forth did FD everything to get word around. However as I said - FD has clarified that expansions will be totally worth it - that is if you choose to get them. See it as longterm support for the game - ED will need that even after release.

Anyway, welcome back and hopefully see you sooner or later in the game! :) Have fun out there!

Ah, so you missed out on the Expansion Pass.
Well, it used to cost about $35.
So far as I know there are likely only going to be 2 DLCs - planetary landings and First Person. Each is likely going to be about $35.
So overall, you're only down by 35$, surely?
I don't think the plan is to release one DLC per month ad-infinitum, or anything like that.

Yeah we do feel your pain at missing out, but sadly that is what's happened.

We don't know what's going to come with this game, or how well it will be taken up. We hope it will be a huge success.

But with 25,681 backers of the campaign, and maybe another 5,000 through the store ap until they closed it December last year, it leaves a huge amount of potential misser outers left still unaware of it's impending launch.

So we are sorry for your missing out, but STOP stalling and get your backside into Beta!!!!!!

Seriously, don't worry about what you've already missed out on, and instead STOP MISSING OUT on whats going on right now!!

I would be surprised if theres not another future opportunity to get some DLC deal. Every other game does it.

We paid £35 for the dlc. You just pay it separately, if you want, you dont have too,

Think of it as supporting the game, buy the DLC you want, ignore the DLC you dont. It could be cheaper that way then buying the lifetime pass.

You dont have to keep paying again and again, You bought the game once you own it for ever,

DLC will come out once in a while at whatever price. Like every other game on the planet.

You are basically complaining because you didnt google Elite enough. And that is somehow frontiers fault. :)

They didnt have the millions to advertise and promote like SC did. Its more a quiet get on with it process. And frontier do not know the email address of every Elite C64 fan unfortunately,.

You say your 'were' willing to drop 'hundreds of $'s' on the game if you'd heard about it early, and yet your complaining that because you didn't get that opportunity because FD didn't contact you personally you'll have to drop X $'s on the game through future expansions?

Either way you would have to pay out, so welcome aboard... :D

why shouldnt you pay for an expansion? i dont understand?

He wanted to pay £100s to support the game but not happy he thinks he has to pay £100s to support the game... I think is the general gist.

Yes, I dont understand either :)

I'm kicking myself, I just wish I'd known about it, its like it went from a discussion and a teaser on youtube to kickstarter>early alpha> beta bonus to now in the blink of an eye.

Why they cant still sell like a 150 pound package that includes early access and all DLC I don't know. I would have completed the checkout buy now, as it is, I'm sitting here feeling resentful just thinking about what I'm going to be asked to pay for later down the track.

Consider yourself lucky!

Completely missing out on everything and instead finding out about the game now this close to release would have been a blessing IMO!

I much rather would have done that compared to the addiction I've had for news about this game every single day since they launched the KS way back!

:D

Oh...and you're not fooling anyone! You'll pay up eventually! :p

Personally I actually feel bad about having the "free" expansions...I'm going to have to buy lots of cosmetics to make sure they still get payed for all the great content that is going to come going forward!

Its because of the process this game was developed under. Kickstarter.

They needed the funds to make the game then, not now. They need to give backers some incentive to give them money in advance or everyone would just wait till now or release to jump in. Then it would be no good though.

Read DDF archive to get idea what you will get in *first* release of the game.

Now imagine amount of such content for each expansion.

Now imagine that you don't have to imagine.

No offense, but I find your comments to be illogical and inconsistent, for reasons others have already pointed out.
