Distance between first habitat and entrance

Okay, I really don't know whether I should laugh or cry about this one but...seriously?! I mean I get that you shouldn't have to walk for like 500m until you see the first animals but this is just❓ I really don't know what to say except please consider changing the distance the guests are willing to walk to the first habitat so this doesn't happen:

They walk to the rock max, then turn around and complain they didn't have enough time to see the animals, most turn even sooner than that, and yeah, like I said I don't know if I wanna laugh about the stupidly lazy guests right now or cry. All I know is that it is yet another thing that keeps me from building a zoo with a somewhat realistic layout, since there are plenty of zoos out there that don't keep their animals right next to the entrance, yet it seems like I'm forced to do exactly that if I want guests to even consider walking into my zoo -.-

I find this annoying as well. I usually have to work around it by "trailing" items, like putting an exhibit animal halfway or an information center. The guests tend to walk further if there's something there, not necessarily an enclosure

Yeah, I know. I'm planning to add an entrance building there later on so I'll probably be able to sneak an exhibit or two in there but it'd still be nice if I wasn't forced to do something like that because I certainly didn't plan to build it like that :(

I'm pretty sure a simple information centre like Dinocanid suggested should do the trick to lure guests in. It doesn't have to be an animal, just something like a waypoint, and many zoos do put info-centres near the entrance (same with restaurants, restrooms, and so on - these sorts of things are commonly the first facilities you encounter walking into a zoo). So I imagine if you did some sort of plaza, or even just added in one of these things, that might fix the problem.

Really nice layout! Would love to see how this zoo's gonna turn out!

I know and in this case the plan is to add shops there when the entrance is done, but what if I wanna build my zoo closer to the middle of the map and make a small forest or something around it? I'm pretty sure trees don't count, though I'll have to test it, and it still doesn't change the fact that I'm being forced to build something that I might not want to build just to make guests walk those additional 50m into my zoo.

Thanks! I'll post some pics in my zoo topic when it's done :)

If it is in sandbox then you could just keep the zoo closed until you finished the entrance-section.

Nope, it's challenge...got tired of franchise with all the lag and challenge does have the added benefit of the "load in sandbox" fail save when nothing else works anymore, though I hope I won't have to actually use it in this case.

I just tried this and it doesn't work, the guests still only go to the small plaza and turn around. I actually had to place exhibits there to make them move into the zoo -.-
