Distance question

I am about 37,000 LY from my starting point but my exploration stats in the ship lists 25,999 LY. Even as I go farther out this never changes. I've done a galaxy map plot to my home base and it's further than 25,999LY. Am I doing something wrong?

That panel has some very dubious numbers in it. My farthest distance is about right - but it's insistent that I have made nearly 1.3 million detailed scans which is at least an order of magnitude out...

Seems a little unusual. But starting point isn't your home base. It's the starting system when first started playing ED. Could still be a bug though.

You mean the max distance from start value?
This is the maximum distance from your starting location in a straight line, not total distance traveled.
Traveling back toward the core won't increase that number and additional travel outward won't increase it until you get further away than before.

To verify the numbers you can just select your starting location on the map and see how far you are away from it right now.

I don't believe it increments in real time. You may need to wait for that number to update or at least log out and log back in.

Can still be bugged, my own max distance from starting point is something like 65k+ ly, which is more than double of what I've done so far.

The hilarious part is, if I ever make it successfully to the other side of the galaxy, I can't even complain about this bug anymore, since there will be no way to distinguish right from wrong value anymore!

From past threads it is clear that some of the early (pre-release) CMDRs have excessive max distance from start stats. I wasn't aware of it affecting anyone else though. OP, if it hasn't corrected itself within 24 hours then I would suggest making a bug report.
