distance to system when in global map

Hi, just a thought, but when I'm trying to plot a course to, say, the nearest control system, the scrollover information shows distance to HQ, which is pretty much useless most of the time to a pilot, if not a strategist. If I switch to map view, of course, I can get the systems distance to me, but that makes the whole endeavour incredibly awkward, as one loses the view of the control systems (or expansion systems...etc). Could the scrollover always show distance to pilot, perhaps in addition to HQ distance in powerplay view? The information also hangs around too long, if one is trying to look at multiple systems. It is easily sustained by holding the pointer over the object, so could it disappear shortly or immediately after the mouse is removed? The appearance delay is also long, although that could be my lag :)

Is getting this information from the galaxy map not good enough? It's not terribly hard to spot which control system is nearest to you from the galaxy map.

I don't find it particularly clear, especially when you are far enough away that the zoom makes it impossible to see both areas at once. The point is it would be very easy, and very sensible, to include this information. As in, it is one of the little ways in which things could be made better. Which is something people sometimes do.

When you say global map, which screen are you talking about? Are you talking about the powerplay overlay tab in the galaxy map?

Not sure what the issue is here. If you are plotting a course to a system then the roll-over will tell you the distance to that system.

Yes, if you have selected the "map" view, but not if you have selected the "power play" view...the power play view is most useful for finding control systems, as I'm sure you know, but you have to click to select a system to center on it, then switch to the map view to then get a rollover that shows the distance that system is from where you are rather than from HQ. I just think it's a couple steps more awkward than it has to be. Especially given that the map interface not infrequently mistakes a click on a system to center the map, for some reason, as a click on a system 200 LY below the system you were aiming for, because of course that's what you meant...

Yes, sorry, old man brain farts when I named the thread.
