distances etc?

so i lock and jump to somewhere then find myself heading into a sun and jumps out

then i see nothing about. how to lock star port etc?

how to not over jump locked places, when to shut the throttle down etc?

thanks guys

When you have jumped into a new system your left panel will show all known landmarks like planets and the station. You can select it and lock it and then you can navigate to it. To not overshoot it be sure to slow down in time. At some point when coming closer to your destination on the left side in your hud you will see 2 sliders with your speed and the reccomended speed to reach your destination. When starting out with this try to have both sliders around the same position (so that your speed matches the reccomended speed/distance). In time you will become better at this and feel what is right and you can go a bit faster.

Good luck Commander!

ok thanks, i get that. i will monitor the speed etc

but has been a few times when i slow down and disengage at a star and seems to be nothing else there. target says 10000km away etc so im on it

obviously is only a star so how do i detect other ports?

bump for a noob

You did get an answer to your question above, didn't you?

Look at the left side panel inside your ship under the navigation tab. There you will find a list of locations in the current system (stars/planets/moons/star ports). Select where you want to go and fly over there. :)

At the moment there is only one station per system.

Press 1, select the station from the list, aim towards it, put the speed indicator in the blue section (the little indicator should turn blue as well) and the computer will handle all the acceleration/deceleration for you. Then just keep the destination centred in your view. Once you're below 1,000km hit J and you're right on top of the station, within 20km or so.

That's all there is to it. It's quite easy this space flight business, not sure why NASA makes such a fuss of it :p

Here's a video of me making a journey from Azaban City to Beagle 2 Landing, just do what I do :)

my point was jumping out and nothing there apart from a star

but i twigged about the tedious slow down to jump to something smaller and get speed correct

no is the point to jump to something worthwhile

While still in hyperspace I'd advise to put the throttle setting on neutral.

When you come out of hyperspace face away from the star.

Then look to the panel on the left side and select the station, indicated by the symbol that is a square with a diamond in it. Lock it up.

Orient your ship by using the small compass to the upper right of the scanner and put the yellow marker in the middle. If you see two brackets in yellow '[' and ']' the target is behind you.

Now throttle up and keep your throttle in the middle to lower part of the blue section, the ship will now regulate speed by itself. You may have to fly around the star to get a correct orientation to your selected target.

Now just check that your are flying towards your target, take care when getting close as sometimes the station is behind the planet it is orbiting and once the computer tells you that it is safe to disengage, disengage hyperdrive.

There are some systems out there that do not have stations and there may be systems out there that are only a star without any planets.

I don't know if English is your first language, if it is not, you might ask for someone that does speak it, as the explanation might be much clearer and easier to understand for you then.
