Distant stars

I was wondering. If you see a distant star, group of stars, nebulae etc in the distance while flying around in a solar system is there a way to find them in the galaxy map or there direction :S

it will get closer as u move towards it, its been done on some youtube videos. Find a star in a similar direction goto the galaxy map and see which direction it is in orientate the map that way and zoom out u might be able to use some deductive reasoning to find the generation direction of the nebula at least

Not easily.
Set a jump destination. Go look if it is the correct direction. If it is, follow the line out. Otherwise try a star in a different direction.
Or look up nebulae pictures on Google till you find it, then search the name on the Galaxy map. Nebulae names are searchable. The witch head nebulae is visible from lots of human space and looks very impressive, you can get there in about an hour with a good fsd.
