I never use eco mode. I'll always use fastest route, but I don't usually plot one route and go in a straight line, and occasionally, I'll stop to do some manual plotting to nearby stars. Sometimes, I'll stop to look through a whole subsector too (particularly if it's a mass code D subsector and is mostly untouched).
