Distant Worlds - How many will make it through ?

Hello commanders !

As we all know, Distant Worlds will be a war of attrition - against careless flying and landing, against boredom, against the random dangers the 'verse likes to throw at us (close binaries, anyone ?). As such, we all know not everyone will make it to Beagle Point...

But how many will make it so far ? Well, now you can bet on how many you think will make it, in a simple Google Form : http://goo.gl/forms/WnxAnan95G !

  • 30% - Mission Scope ---------- "Wow, I never knew space was this big!".
  • 25% - Real Life --------------- "My wife is starting to look funny at me".
  • 10% - Planetary Landing ------- "I just thought this rocky body was made of marshmallow?".
  • 5% -- Stragglers -------------- "Hey, wait up guys!" - got lost by the peloton and are now unable to catch up.
  • 5% -- My Precious ------------ "This system belongs to me! - just a quick pop back to sell, and...".
  • 4% -- Ship Disaster! ----------- "I really thought this Black Hole was a shortcut wormhole, Macros told me so himself?".
  • 1% -- Accidents -------------- "Oops, I really thought my fire button was set to boost, I'm terribly sorry Cmdr! - Okay, then why did you 'boost' for 5 mins?"

I bet also theres like at least 50 commanders who doesnt even set off to this voyage, because they A) forgot the whole thing B) came in their senses. :D

I honestly thought "B" would be me when I signed up. "I must be crazy to do this, I'm sure I'll come to my senses before we leave..." :D

I was at work today, when suddenly i was overwhelmed with a very strong feeling saying, "I cant do this, i will never make it, i have to cancel the whole trip, am i :):):):):):):)ING insane, i have wife and kids, what about REAL LIFE??"

Luckily, that feeling lasted like .5 seconds and then it was gone. :D

Last time i had the same feeling i was getting married.. without the wife and kids part of course. :)

I'm not concerned about not completing it personally, it will be a great adventure regardless, but I am concerned that we as a group don't fall foul of some internal Machiavellian kill order conspiracy.

Or maybe I am well paranoid and need my anti mental pills:)

500 for the core
Less than 50 for Beagle point

Sadly I won't manage beagle point with my 18Ly range, there's just not enough jumponium in the galaxy to push an Orca that far.

I heard there are polonium+5 and Yttrium+5 planets at BP ;) I'm hoping to make it there (and back) with my 22.8 ly.
