[Distant Worlds] Human waste throughout the galaxy.

Greetings explorers!

It is a well known fact that wherever humans go, we leave our footprints behind. Sometimes it is actually just our footprints, while other times we actually seem to treat every planet as our personal junkyard.

While it is only natural that on some remote places there might be a wreck of an SRV or a ship from an unfortunate explorer, it seems that the occurrance of human objects throughout the galaxy is indeed more common than one might think.

Here is an example from another intrepid explorer whose findings are more than questionable:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=220524&p=3361119&viewfull=1#post3361119

In light of these spectacular and sad findings I have decided to document all human trash found on our journey to Beagle Point. Wether it is a narcotics-stash from a druglord, or a crashed Nav-Beacon they all pose an environmental threat to our beautiful vistas.
Let us make it known to the galaxy that human littering is not tolerated, and should be punishable by death.

As all things in moral and ethics, we have to start to act ourselves:
My first example is from our base camp near Shapley 1.
CrashSRV.jpg
Within 5 minutes after landing at base camp, a reckless pilot crashed his SRV leaving his remains scattered over a large area of the planet. While everybody pointed and laughed, nobody thought about cleaning up the mess so when the next somewhat clumsy SRV pilot drove past, he drove straight into the wreckage and exploded himself. See the threat this poses?

Now since I am doing a bit of prospecting, I am in no shortage of finding other places with similar results.

Second example of the day is from Fine Ring Sector JH-V c2-10, only 8 LY's away from the previous image:
SRVwreck2.jpg
While CMDR Absolver had his eyes glued to the scanner looking for those precious ingredients for jumponium, he just barely avoided this wreckage. Clearly this was some kind of underground narcotics scheme gone wrong as there were several canisters of narcotics and gold nearby.

There you go CMDR's, tread carefully, and please pick up your trash. It is way too much out there already.
Stay tuned for more documentation.

Disclaimer: This is part attempted humour, and part attempt to show how silly it is to have this many human-made POI's scattered throughout the galaxy. I'm sure I will tire of finding nav-beacons near Sagittarius A* pretty quickly... not to mention guarded canisters of scrap near Beagle Point. FD, please do something about this.

"I am saving up all my beer bottles for Sag A. They all have messages in them, so, eventually I will get a reply as to where the bottles ended up."

This was the sad defence from a Commander charged with Littering on a Galactic scale. He was found guilty and banished to the penal moon of Deimos.

I was there on Laika's Rest earlier.

Unfortunately the portaloo in my buggy has broken and I needed to do a number 2. Taking the name "Laika's Rest" quite literally, I performed the deed and dropped it out of my cargo scoop after I'd finished mining. Yes, I'm so good at multitasking that I can poop and scoop at the same time.

Just a quick warning about scanning this area. Apparently, due to a lots of exploring and too much exposure to various interesting forms of radiation, my waste products appear like Sulphur in scans. They are not Sulphur. Whatever you do, do not try synthesising anything with my waste products. I believe this may have been what happened in that image at the top of this thread.

Day #2

New day - more waste.

Waste of cargo.jpg
This canister of Tea along with some unrecognisable wreckage was found on the otherwise beautiful iceworld located in Fine Ring Sector MI-S b4-1. Gentlemen (and women), if you can't finish drinking up your otherwise perfectly fine Tea and have to dispose of it, please do so at the nearest star. Thank you.

It pleases me that there are others sharing my concern about this obvious problem in the galaxy. I long for the day that an active galacticwide environmentalist group is formed.

Have a wasteless day CMDR's.

You must have had a LOT of broccoli for lunch. ;)

Day #3

Shameful dispray!

Wastebeacon.jpg
This crashed Nav-beacon was found at Lagoon Sector MN-T c3-44. Upon further inspection it reads: "Property of the Federal Government." Yeah, right. Nav-beacons are useful, very useful. But seriously people of the Federation: When a nav-beacon in one of your THOUSAND systems is malfunctioning, is it common practice to attach it to a ship and dump it on a random planet 3000 LY's away? Shameful display.

Our movement is gaining new supporters daily. I welcome you fellow concerned pilots of the galaxy!
I have just recently read about the environmentalists on earth in the 21st century. I wish something like this could be formed on a galactic scale... something with a pure vision - yes, working for peace, beautiful vistas and a safe and clean galaxy. If I could name it, it would be "First Order".

Fly safe CMDR's.

CMDR Anuranium is right about this superfluence of human detritus being strewn all across our galaxy. After his initial posting, I paid better attention to the frequency of human-made signals on my wave scanner while prospecting ahead of the Distant Worlds expedition - and the frequency in which I come across signs of humanity's touch upon the galaxy is simply staggering. We have left a trail of junk across otherwise pristine planets and moons for several thousand lightyears outside of our corner of our galaxy.

This is not the manner in which we want to build our legacy, fellow commanders. When humanity's worth is weighed in the end, do we truly want to be known as the race that used 400 billion star systems as their junkyard? Something must be done! Has the Pilot's Federation no regulatory body to ensure that we clean up our messes when we travel out into the Black? Do we really care so little about eachother that when someone goes missing, we ask no questions, and do not even look for them?

I have come upon yet another SRV, burnt out and destroyed on Lagoon Sector MN-T C3-44 A 2 A. Whoever this hapless commander was, whoever he was lugging his load of reactive armor and non-lethal weapons to - has no one questioned his disappearance?
The wreckage has long since degraded beyond any hope of identifying its former occupant, but at some point, I hope that the PF mandates a proper black box for SRVs, containing identifying information, so that we may at least bring information about the loss back to civilization. At the very least, a family will have some closure.

Day #4

The Circle of Life

Pod1.jpgPod2.jpg
These two occupied escape pods along with a canister of narcotics and some other unrecognisable wreckage was found in Lagoon Sector MN-T c3-44. One can only imagine what these two individuals were doing, but I assume the narcotics have had something to do with it. Infuriated by the lack of responsibility by these two individuals I took matters into my own hands. I picked up the pods and narcotics and ejected them into the infant T-Tauri star. May the Tauri find a new and better use for them.

Perhaps one day there shall be someone with a burning desire to make a better galaxy. Someone who never tires of the wrongdoings of humankind. An environmentalist. A space shepherd, campaigning to make a future galaxy without waste.

are you saying you murdered two individuals.... what if they were attacked whilst shipping medicine (narcotics) to some space orphans who ran out of fuel the other side of the galaxy and had developed a really nasty case of flu! ...

I took matters into my own hands, littering in the galaxy is a crime and punishable by death. In my opinion I am doing the galaxy a favour. This might seem cruel, but I have no remorse.

Hi everyone,

since there's many CMDRs around the Lagoon sector, can you fellers please look out for 2 CMDR friends of mine who had to use their escape pod while doing valuable research in the Lagoon Sector (MN-T)?

Last transition to me read: Hi CMDR! We heard about Distant Worlds and we're going to scout around the lagoon sector for materials to help out you splendid explorers. Hope you'll drop by when you're around and see you soon

All the best!

Day #5

Reckless explorers

Cobra wreck.jpg
This wreck of a Cobra Mk III along with a small survey cache was found right next to the black hole in Thor's Eye. One might wonder what happened here, as the ship itself is well outside of the event horizon of the black hole. Space madness? Anyway, this wreck now poses a threat to every other pilot that ventures in this system. Fellow CMDR's, if you want to end your expedition early, please do it properly. Fly into the black hole, not just self-destruct right outside of it.

I feel this movement is getting stronger every day. We are all children of this great galaxy. Lets make it a better place for our children as well.

Fly Safe CMDR's.

Day #6

A wasteless day!

I decided to do something different today and smashed together some footage of other things than just garbage.

Always remember folks, throw your waste in a star or a black hole, and you will help keep the galaxy nice and tidy :)
