[Distant Worlds] - Post your send off tune.

Yes it's another 1977 Bowie song! But like so many of his tunes, it was so ahead of its time that it had to travel back almost 4 decades just to make the release date accurate.

For all we know it was really written in 3277. Definitely gives off an appropriate gothic space vampire of cthulu vibe.

So. Many. Options.

But for the epic scope of it all, Conquest of Paradise by Vangelis fits nicely.
I'm exceedingly hyped for this expedition!

Runner up would include the 90's rave hit Million miles from home by Dune.

Well it was going to be something classical as befits Elite, and I called my Asp the Magpie, so...

The Thieving Magpie Overture by Rossini

But I changed ships at the last minute. So it had to be Rondeau from Guitar Duo in G - Op 34 performed by John Williams and Julian Bream, which, if you are of the original Elite playing age and from the UK, you'll probably recognise from somewhere.

(Where you remember it from.)

Fourth Rendez Vous by Jean Michel Jarre.

Video shows footage of crew and launch of the ill-fated Challenger mission. A reminder of how dangerous space travel is, I feel.

That is a phenomenal track! That was prefaced by JFK's "We chose to go to the Moon" speech at the Houston concert so it's always connected with space travel in my mind.

This is also fitting given the title and "feel" of the track...

I know I already posted my send of tune, but today I will definitely be listening to this as well since it is my de facto song for Elite Dangerous

I posted a send-off tune in January (here). Last Sunday, I made a vid with an arrival tune:

Speaking of "brilliant and appropriate": This one's for all my fellow DW stragglers out there. It's definitely keeping me warm tonight ;)
