[Distant Worlds] Risky rescue

After busy days navigating the path through the overly dense center of the galaxy, here we were: at almost 30,800LY from the Sun, near the core of the Galaxy.

I landed my spaceship, Nao Victoria, on Armstrong Landing, at WP 11: STUEMEAE KM-W C1-342 (SAGITTARIUS A*). While the other pilots of the Distant Worlds expedition were relaxing and having some fun with their SRVs, I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood.

I did a bit of mineral prospecting, looting materials for SRV repairs and refueling, when the radar of my vehicle catched a very strong echo.

I chased the origin of the signal, which seemed to be on the side of a rocky ridge nearby.

And yes, here it was: a dispersed collection of metallic debris. In short, a spaceship crash site.

After lurking around the debris, I located an occupied escape pod! It was functional, with all green lights on, so there was a survivor: probably the pilot of the space ship.

It seems that, finally, I will be able to use the First Aid box of my ship.

I don't know what happened to the crashed space ship. Was it a landing mistake? Maybe an engine malfunction? Thargoids? ...or simply, too much narcotics at the cargo bay?

I don't have a properly answer but, for sure, this long journey for the Distant Worlds will no more be a lonely one for me. Now I have an additional task for this amazing trip, I will have to decide when to open the Escape Pod. Should I wait until we are back at the civilization bubble, or should I simply look for a bottle of rum, take a sip and open the Pod?

Be careful! Who knows what really resides in that pod! Thargoids could be using it as bait, and if you bring it back to the civilized worlds.... well .... who knows.

Alas, a lot of fun drains out of this mechanic as soon as you realise far from something special, it's quite the contrary :(

Instead of a reward for explorers, it's practically the opposite - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=227379&page=3&p=3548768&viewfull=1#post3548768

Yes, Newman, I know they are pretty common: my next one was found only 3km. away from landing camp at WP12.

And yes, NeilF, I also think it's annoying (and atmosphere-breaking) to find soooooo much escape pods, soooooo much crash sites, at those distances from the civilization bubble. In any case, was trying to see the positive aspect of a broken mechanism (IMHO) of the game, and add some fun related to those findings and the possibility of embarking some Thargoids (or maybe, better, Sigourney Weaver) in my spaceship ;-)
