DISTANT WORLDS STAGE 5 ITINERARY & EVENTS, IMPORTANT NEWS, AND FLEET ROSTER ADDITIONS :
Stage 5 begins this weekend as fleet members begin arriving at the southern edge of the Abyss to regroup at the Roncevaux Crossing basecamp.
This is going to be the toughest stage of the entire Distant Worlds expedition due to where we are, and how far we still have to go, pilot fatigue, the need to manually route plot on occasions when we reach the Ceeckia sector, and of course Jumponium management. We'll be crossing the Abyss at a point at which at 25 LY Cobra (The Roncevaux, piloted by CMDR Allitnil) managed it in March 3301, so it should pose no problem for ships with at least that FSD range. Ships with lower range than 25 LYs that don't yet have a stockpile of Jumponium should still be able to cross there, but to be absolutely sure it may be advisable for you to head 'southeast' along the Scutum-Centaurus outer rim and look for a route across the Tyros Ridge (see the stage 5 map on the main DW thread).
Stage 5 consists of the final 3 waypoints and is spread across 15,200 light years, tasking pilots to cross 5,200 light years of the southeastern edge of the Abyss and then travel through a further 10,000 light years of the Solitude Void.
STAGE 5 ITINERARY :
MONDAY 21ST MARCH :
WAYPOINT 21 - THE RONCEVAUX CROSSING
Prospectors Key Event at The Roncevaux Crossing (WP 21) for Saturday 19th March and Sunday 20th March
On Monday 21st March the bulk of the fleet should be arriving at the southern edge of the Abyss at the Roncevaux Crossing basecamp. Prior to this, over the weekend, we would like to encourage fleet prospectors to begin arriving at the Roncevaux Crossing a little earlier than the stated day and time, begin prospecting in and around the basecamp system and post their findings in the Fleet Prospecting Service thread so the incoming fleet can use Monday's rendezvous as a convenient "Jumpoinuim Gathering" event. Alternatively anyone currently short of materials can join the advanced prospecting event organized by CMDR Eisen and use the coming weekend to gather all they need.

FRIDAY 25TH MARCH :
WAYPOINT 22 - THE SUBLUSTRIS BEACON (AND TRAVERSING THE SOLITUDE VOID)
Although Distant Worlds has primarily been about the social aspect of a trip across the galaxy, I encourage pilots to travel alone between the Sublustris Beacon and Beagle Point. This is how the very first explorers that made it out here during the Age of Pioneers did it and almost all of the early pioneers I've spoken to have all said the same thing; its a unique experience being this far from home and alone out on the fringe of intergalactic space. Crossing the Solitude Void is something that should be experienced alone - both in game, and without fleetcoms too. For those that want to do the final leg this way, I recommend departing the Sublustris Beacon and setting out across the void on your own. Shut down fleetcoms and avoid social interaction for the duration of your trip out to Beagle Point, and along the way maybe find your own world right out on the far galactic rim, land, embrace the isolation and contemplate the journey you took out here and just how distant and cut off from home you are. Its a weird experience that only a game the size of ED can give.
There is no rush so the final leg should be done at your own pace - we have a whole week (and more) to travel through the Solitude Void, with a further week long landing event at Beagle Point awaiting those who make it.

SATURDAY 2ND APRIL TO SATURDAY 9TH APRIL :
WAYPOINT 23 - BEAGLE POINT
PRIME RENDEZVOUS DATES AND TIMES DURING BEAGLE POINT WEEK :-
Preliminary events scheduled for Beagle Point Week
We need volunteers to help organize and host the Beagle Point events. Please contact Dr Kaii here if you have ideas on how to make some of these scheduled events workable, or if you have other ideas entirely and would like to help organize them.
FLEET ROSTER ADDITIONS :
Distant Worlds 3302 officially ends on May 31st when the FGE Flotilla touches down at Darwin's Legacy. Between now and that day players that never made it onto the initial fleet roster will be added to it if they provide the following information:
1. A screenshot of you at Beagle Point, with your right side panel open showing your commander name and outside cockpit view of your distance to Sol. (Example screenshot).
2. Your ship type, ship name, jump range, and your prime role during the expedition (i.e. Explorer, Prospector, Cartographer, Fuel Rat etc).
3. What group you where in (i.e. Kamzel, Erimus, Patrecleus, or Open Play).
You must submit this screenshot and info : Here : and before June 1st 3302 as that is the day the final fleet roster will be permanently locked and archived on several threads and websites.
Current roster can be viewed : Here
Those already on the roster need to nothing.
KAMZEL GROUP AND FLEETCOM :
Kamzel group is currently closed but will not be disbanded. It will become an invitation-only group post-Distant Worlds so if you're currently not a member please do not request access to it. If there is to be a DW 3303, applications and invites to this group will be reopened. Those currently in Kamzel group (i.e. DW 3302 veterans) and those invited to it in the future are considered to be founder members of FleetCom and will be automatically invited to all future expeditions and given full FleetCom access.
Kamzel group follows the Mobius ruleset and as long as members respect those rules they will always be considered to be lifetime members of FleetCom and the Distant Worlds fleet.
A reminder that while you're using this group there is zero tolerance of aggressive & antisocial behavior against any fellow fleet members you encounter in there too. Kamzel should be viewed as a purely exploration-oriented group, one fleet, and all hollow signals you encounter are to be considered allies while you're using it. Keep in-game politics and vendettas out of it. That kind of thing can be taken to open play or your own private groups. Distant Worlds works because of the trust players built up at basecamps and the integrity of this group should be protected as best as possible.
THE JOURNEY HOME :
There are a few posts popping up on the explorers forum in regards to organizing a journey home from Beagle Point after DW. This is a great way for players to continue the social aspect of the trip across the galaxy and back and I'd encourage players to keep the social bonds intact and group exploration going as its been the highlight of the entire DWE for the vast majority of players who have taken part.
However please note that these return journeys and continuing expeditions have nothing to do with the Distant Worlds organizers so please do not contact Dr Kaii, the DW admin, or myself about these post-DW events. They have nothing to do with Kamzel group, Erimus group, or the DW roster, so please don't ask me for group access or roster additions in regards to them. A lot of the DW admin will be taking a well-earned break after Beagle Point Week is over and will not be organising anything further for a while as far as I'm aware.
FGE Carina-Sagittarius Expedition
For those that are in no rush to return home I'd also encourage players to support the FGE Carina-Sagittarius Expedition. If you want to continue your adventures out beyond the Abyss and would like to explore other parts of the galaxy with these experienced and dedicated explorers you can find out more about the Carina-Sagittarius Expedition : Here

Course of events:
Time:
Comms:
The easiest way for interested commanders to find out who is prospecting and where is to have a look at the Discord '#prospectors-channel' and ask for a wing-up. Alternatatively use the in-game chat; people should text CMDRs Greytest, Domaq, Star_Crusider, Lyneira, Nightstrider or Eisen. If they are online there is good chance that they are prospecting.
- Prospectors meetup at the WP 21 location
- Forming of several wings, each of them lead by one experienced prospector / rock-rat
- Several J 1 – wings, those will only search for J1-mats
- J 2/3 – wings, those will search for the rarer mats if needed
- Instancing-issue resolving
- Flight to the pre-prospected planets and landings
- Prospecting together for 1-2 hours
- Event ends
Time:
- 8 pm GMT for Europe (Hosts: CMDRs Greytest, Lyneira, Domaq, Nightstrider, Eisen)
- 2 am GMT for US (Hosts: CMDRs IDragox, Greytest, Eisen and hopefully Michael Darkmoor)
Comms:
- We propose the Discord Prospectors Text-Chat and Voice-Chat as a main-meeting place. Alternative will be the ingame-chat-option for those not in Discord. After formation of the wings they switch to the available-wing-channels or stay in the ingame-text-chat.

The Solitude Void
Game map search ref. : Interarm void situated to the 'southeast' of CEECKIA KU-M D8-1
POI Type: Region (Exploration Hazard - High to Extreme)
Very low density void towards the eastern edge of the Abyss. Solitude was thusly described by the first commander to traverse through the region (January 3301) - "...a place of complete remoteness due to its sheer distance from humanity (on the opposite side of the galaxy). There is no place like it throughout the entire galaxy. Out here on the galactic rim there is nothing but inky blackness outside my cockpit window giving me a real sense of remoteness. The central Milky Way looks so distant, just a band of distant bright stars with little colour or structure some 35,000 LYs away, with the Frontier and homeworlds yet another 30,000 LYs beyond that! Outwards looking there are a handful of stars still further out but they're beyond the jump range of my long-ranged Asp.. and then nothing but the intergalactic void.." - Jan. 18th 3301.

Preliminary events scheduled for Beagle Point Week
Exploring the Moons of Podar:
A group trip to explore the Moons of Podar. The Moons of Podar orbit an Earth Like World on the edge of the Abyss, 1,200 LYs from Beagle Point. An extra excursion from Podar is also scheduled - a visit to the nearby planetary nebula 'Distant View in Blue', thought to be the most distant nebulae of its kind ever discovered.
Volunteers needed to organize and host this event.
Pilgrimage to Asterous:
A visit to Asterous. At 65,400 LYs 'north' of Sol, along the 0 meridian, this is the most northerly reachable star system from Sol. Only high-range Anaconda's with J3 Jumponium will be able to reach it. Asterous is less than 1,000 LYs from Beagle Point.
Wacky Racers:
Canyon races around a suitable world within the Beagle Point star system.
Volunteers needed to organize and host this event (will require someone to create aerial photos of the course, provide surface waypoint coordinates, and devise the rules).
The 65K Scavenger Hunt:
Find the Lavian Brandy hidden near Darwin's Legacy - following clues given by the event organizer.
Volunteers needed to organize and host this event (will require some cargo donated by one of the fleet haulers and someone good at organizing scavenger hunts and coming up with riddles & surface coordinate clues as to where the loot is hidden).
Stop the Pigeon:
A game of high stakes; one player in an SRV being hunted down by a squadron of armed ships who need to seek-locate-destroy him/her before he/she reaches a designated surface coordinate on a world at Beagle Point.
Volunteers needed to organize and host this event (will require a player who has a spare SRV and a willingness to lose it to hail of missiles and laser fire if he's not cunning enough to escape).
Outer Rim Excursion:
A trip for those in long range Anaconda's with Jumponium to burn - visiting the most distant star systems possible.
Whack-a-Rat:
Three rogue rock rats have gone crazy due to space madness and need to be hunted down by a group of pursuing SRVs. Ramming, shooting, and all sorts of underhand shenanigans are encouraged to whack those rats before they reach their designated escape coordinates on a world at Beagle Point.
Volunteers needed to organize and host this event (will require players who have spare SRVs and a willingness to lose them. The rats need not be actual rock rats, just volunteers to play the roles. Only 1 rat need escape for the rat pack to win).
Galactic Tag Xtreme:
An already established pastime at DW basecamps, and a game that has proved popular with some fleet members already. More details on GTX can be found : Here
Locate and Map the 'Western Passage':
A mission to travel beyond Svenno's Crossing (which lies to the 'southwest' of Beagle Point) and see if a Jumponium route from the outer rim, back into the Scutum-Centaurus arm, is possible now that we have Jumponium tech to boost our range. Locating a viable Western Route will save future explorers heading from Beagle Point to the Abyssal Plain a detour of 20,000 light years, so will prove invaluable for the Galactic Mapping Project if such a route can be found. Note that this will be a time-consuming venture that could take a week or two to complete so it is scheduled for the very end of Beagle Point Week (9th April onward).
