Distress Beacon - Module

I did a quick search before I decided to post this suggestion and didn't find anything. But I got to thinking. What about the idea of a Distress Call module. We all see the calls when we are out in Supercruise, we investigate and we either get jumped by a pirate being a jerk, or you find a genuine NPC in distress.

But what if you could send out a Distress Beacon yourself?

Picture this. You are in a system where you've worked pretty hard to get to Friendly or Allied with the local factions, and while you are travelling to point B you are interdicted by a "Wanted" Federal Dropship. What if you could launch a distress beacon and have the change that a few System authority Vessels could see it and come to your aid?

Just a suggestion.

See you in the black CMDR's.

Sounds good but I don't think it should be a module.
Just an option in the ship functions, like wing beacon.

In theory, this happens already. This is what the 'Report Crimes Against Me' toggle does. However, I have yet to see an effective response. A Distress Beacon, visible to other players in other instances, might be more useful.

This. But wouldn't it be nice to be able to fire this manually, so a beacon would appear on the radar of CMDRs that are in SC? This could add a new gameplay feature. You can ignore it or do something. Then get a reputation gain in the local system when jumped in to help when e.g. a successful escape from that instance happened or the aggressor jumped out / got destroyed.
Well, of course there are ways to exploit this, but in general I'd like to see this and would be an incentive to play open or groups. Thinking about player wings to help the noobs, traders etc.
