Powerplay Faction: Aisling Duval Distributing propaganda as a means of improving standing.

I assumed I would improve my standing by distributing media material and program materials to appropriate places.

I've managed to deliver stuff fine and been promised sums of credits. But sadly, my wealth seems to be dropping rather dramatically rather than improve. And so far I seem to have a load of merits but no idea of what to do with them.

I seem to be 100% outsider and have been for quite some time now, but no idea of how to improve that. My reputation remains neutral at 12%.

Would appreciate some advice.

Hey, I just jumped in this cycle too . It looks like a key the first week is hardest, because we don't get any benefits until the next cycle.

I am going for Rank 4; this initially cost me about 14.5 million. However, so long as cost to fast track is the same, I will get about 3 million back each following week, starting to see profits in week 6. I have a python, so it would take me about an hour per week to get the 800 merits needed to maintain rank 4 . Rank 4 gets 10 times the cash for two times the merits of Rank 3, and Ramk 5 would take too much regular effort for me to maintain .

I would suggest that you do Empire Missions, trading, bounty hunting etc. to build up friendly reps. Then hopefully someone will like you enough to give you a rank ascension mission.

I am currently trying to get to Duke, having just reached Count. I am mixing things up though so I don't feel like I'm grinding

I would like a more detailed explanation of what it is I am supposed to be doing. It all seems very hit and miss. A Google search brought up nothing. I found this page by accident!

From what you've said, I need to aim for about 800 merits each week. OK, sounds fine. I have already spend the best part of 12 mil and have less than 300.

I mostly do trading and delivery missions.

I will keep at it, it's early day of course. I only pledged to Aisling Duval a week or so ago and have only done the propaganda stuff for a few days.

Noticed previously I was being offered materials at 10 a time. Now it's 15 a time.

I can take as many as will fill my hold and dump them all in the same place.

Is this right or wrong?

Also, after taking the 15, there is a message saying I have consumed my quota, next allotment in 0,29mins.

I can still take more now, should I or is that the route to penalties?

I was wrong when I assumed that the total price would stay the same for fast tracking (reducing cost per merit)... It stays the same at 10000 per merit, but the timers change... Sometimes I have a 15 min timer, other times a 30 min timer, possibly to do with how much I have already. This needs further investigation!

Unlike some other powers, Aisling mainly offers merits for transporting stuff, so we have to be careful about fast tracking if we want to make a profit. Having said that, I did get some extra merits at the end of the cycle, possibly for killing enemy agents.

Total merits = this week's contribution + 0.5* last week's contribution + 0.25 * the contribution from two weeks ago + 0.125 * contribution from 3 weeks ago. Hence, the amount needed for stable upkeep of rank = Merits Required / (1+0.5+0.25+0.125) = Merits required / 1.875. So for Rank 4 (1500 merits required), I need to get 800 new merits each week.

Other then cash, you get faction specific perks, which may or may not be worth more than cash. Aisling gives access to Prismatic Shields, which is apparently one of the best perks around.

I'll be back to ask some more later. In the lean time I suppose I'll just need to move slowly. I can't quite see a lot of point in not achieving Duke. If that is the case, given how much its costing me, I might stop bothering.

Oh, I don't think powerplay affects Imperial Ranking; you need to do missions for imperial minor factions for that . On the bulletin board these missions are marked by an imperial eagle.

This is correct; PP activity is not linked to Imperial rank. To improve that keep working for Imperial factions and you should eventually be offered a "Naval Progression Mission". Successful completion of one of those will result in your promotion.

Think I've got it now. Making small profits, merits rising.

I disocvered I could fill my hold with propaganda the material then dump it all at obce, That would seem to have been a mistake.

I have alos been following the advice of Cory as to where to go rather than the list on the Galactic Powers section.

It strikes me that if this were rather clearer, Asling Duval would be queen of the universe by now.
