I played ED a little bit some time ago on XboxOne, and loved it, although overwhelmed as well. Now flash forward to this week, and I've gone in big. We have used a Mac for years, (and it's still our main computer), but I had found a great deal on a gaming laptop this week that I couldn't pass up. I also now had the chance to jump into the vr world, and after much debate, I went with the Vive as I loved the idea of room scale as well...I was also quite happy to be surprised and found it for $100 off when I was at the checkout. Naturally the first game I downloaded on Steam was ED and gave it a go.
All I've done so far was look around the cockpit though. (And I loved it!) I have the Thrusmaster T.16000 FCS Hotas coming tomorrow, and I'm waiting for that till I jump back in the cockpit. Part of me is really looking forward to the experience, but there is also a bit of trepidation as well. Getting used to using a hotas, the Vive, and even Windows since I haven't had a Windows pc in years...(and I will freely admit I am not the most computer savvy person around) Oh yeah, not to mention that ED is not an easy game to just jump into.
A few things I did notice with the Vive, if I sit too far back from where I would normally play a room scale vr experience, I see the grid for the boundaries chaperone I think it is...is there a way to disable this? Also, any main Vive tips per say that would be helpful for a newcomer to the vr/pc/Hotas/ED world? I'm also considering picking up the voiceattack program I think it's called as well, that looks like it would be amazing.
