DK2 –And how I survived to fight another day:

Last night I had an experience I had never had before in all my years of gaming.

I was at a station where I re-outfitted my Adder. Thinking I was ready now with upgraded systems I took off for the Nav Beacon looking for the Wanted.

I was interdicted and thought oh yeah lets get it on.

The following account is what I feel must be like being Capt Kirk in a no win scenario.

I did not try to evade the interdiction. As soon as I came out of hyper drive things started happening real fast.

My ships computer told me I had exhausted my power.

The enemy attached.

The Oxygen countdown started:

My canopy started to ice up.

With no power of any kind, I watched helplessly as the enemy made strafing runs while my hull number continued to decline.

Nothing worked, period. As I sat there waiting for the end, I decided to turn on silent running just to see if maybe it could confuse the enemy for a moment or two.

To my surprise, a small amount of power was restored. I brought up my weapons to defend myself but again my power ran dry.

My hull was now down to 22. I again went silent running and used the small amount of power I had to go into hyper drive.

I made it back to the station where I spent the next hour READING the different power requirements and getting my ship back in working condition.

The most fun I've ever had in a game.

The entire experience was further enhanced by using DK2 . Thinking back, this is what a captain must feel like in what seems like a hopeless situation only to by chance find a way out.

Regards to all

Cool, had a similar experience with canopy busted, oxygen countdown, smoke in the cabin and somehow got away and limped back to the nearest station for repairs. Had trouble sleeping after that kept thinking about it but very cool.

Did you work out what happened ? Did deploying your hard points put you over the power output of your power plant (most likely) ?

Always test out your power draw after installing new modules - fly outside the no fire zone of the station, deploy hard points and try your weapon fire groups. You can safely de-prioritise your cargo hatch and FSD drive; you can't frame shift with hard points deployed anyway, so you might as well have the FSD at a lower priority than your weaponry.

Balancing your power can be fun - so long as nobody is shooting at you whilst you're trying to figure it out

it appears I was very under powered. That has been corrected. and as u stated, I went out and tested my systems to make sure they worked.
