DK2, Meet Bench grinder..

so today I noticed just how badly my DK2 lenses were scratched from wiping them with my shirt ect.. I decided to try to polish them and see if I could renew their clarity and it worked beautifully. I first rubbed some turtle wax and allowed to dry then I used the buffing wheel on my bench grinder to buff them clear again. If you attempt to do this yourselves, make sure not to use much pressure in the buffing phase as you'll melt the lenses. keep a tight hold an be careful not to let the wheel pull the lense into the machine. this takes all of 5 min to complete and I am happily playing in my DK2 again with crystal clear optics

Good advice.

Plastic lenses = pile of crap.

With DK2 you could replace them with glass lenses. With CV1 that won't be possible.

I wear always a multi use scarf, it avoids grease to stick on the lens and keeps them clean. So you can keep them on the head to improve the heat up process of the lens.
