DK2 or GO?

My budget is VERY low so the question is short and concrete as the title shows.
Oculus DK2 or Oculus GO for Elite Dangerous.

Considering that I currently use a G4 motorola together with a BOBOvr R4 and the riftcat program, it seemed to me that moving to a DK2 was a big leap.
considering that in Argentine pesos a bobovr is a thousand pesos, an obvious used oculus dk2 goes from 5000 to 7000, the oculus go from 8000 to 12000, and oculus CV1 costs between 20,000 and 30000. an average salary is 20000.
I really felt that the dk2 was the best option, or the GO being that I already use software to simulate vr with my cell phone.

Thank you.

I doubt the go would work! The go is a closed system with its own hardware build in! No way to connect to a pc!
And the buil din hardware is not compatible with Elite Dangerous!

The DK2 I dont know if it can still run Elite, that might be your only option but I remember that its not supported anymore and that memory is from over a year ago...

DK2 works fine, I STILL use it and I’m very happy with it, even when I have tested Vive and Rift CV1. But for how long it works, no one knows. Officially it is not supported.

Well between the two the Go is the obvious choice, why would you even consider a 2+ year old beta testing headset that's no longer officially supported and requires hacks to work in many games, if it even works at all?

That said the Go doesn't support PC VR. You can get it setup with Riftcat to stream over the network from SteamVR to the headset but it's pretty terrible - no, that's not right, it's horrible. Nothing at all like using a Rift. Given the Go is $200 and the Rift is $350 if you want to play Elite in VR there is only one choice.

I've had the Go since launch and it's great for what it is - but it is NOT a PC VR gaming device at all.

Becuase the GO is a standalone unit, meant to replace the samsung gear vr for Oculus, and is not intended to be connected to a PC at all.
And will rely on hacks and possibly device breaking software to just make it work at all.

So yea, I think the DK2 is the better option.
Soon though you might find rift's second hand on ebay, but that might still be pricy until the cv2 is released.

I’m not following your train of thought. You say obvious choice is Go because it’s newer while it does nothing what OP asked for, like work with Elite Dangerous? DK2 works straight out of the box with newest Oculus software for now, no hacks. But we don’t know for how long, I give you that. But for me, I couldn’t be more hapier, I bought dk2 for 250€, and while it is not technically on par with cv1 or Vive, it is not that far behind eighter and It’s value for money is unbeatable.
