DK2 - Watching YouTube, Netflix, or your 2nd monitor within cockpit.

DK2 and Elite Dangerous are amazing together. It is happening and it is incredible.

Only problem right now is that I lose access to my other monitors. I want to watch videos or multi-task at inopportune times during dogfights. Is there a way to get my 2nd monitor to stream into a cockpit screen or maybe eventually integrate Netflix/YouTube ect? I miss my distractions! Thoughts?

Personally the point of VR is not to get distracted by such things.

I'm almost certain that in the future you'll have the majority of the internet available inside VR applications, but for now, thankfully (my opinion) VR is innocent and pure, not yet corrupted by the mainstream.

In my opinion the air grills and the nose hole provide enough of a distraction!

I can't forsee Elite Dangerous ever letting that sort of functionality in, short of allowing for parts of UI to be user reprogrammable... at a very deep level. Which is just a mote less improbable, but still very improbable indeed.

The solution is clear - play without DK2, or put up with the inconvenience of slipping on and off the headmount to use the second screen.

Alternatively, an external injector that is able to take orientation data and update the injector to provide a visual overlay that is correctly orientated within the world.

That would actually be really handy for VR in general...

I play a lot Falcon 4 BMS and there is a option in it to set winamp as a actual in game radio station. Just set the radio frequency in game and you can listen your own winamp in game :D

I love to use that screen between my legs for something constructive, although it may be too small to read at the moment.

I don't personally agree that the inside of the cockpit should link to the real world (YouTube etc) but we do (and surely will) be able to access news feeds, ads , trading info etc whilst cruising from place to place. This would take the immersion to a whole other level, particularly with VR ...

Honestly I didn't even think of it ruining lore or people's experience being immersed in the universe. I'm always multi tasking and having the headset on makes what I'm always doing on the side not possible. It is something I would really need to mod in somehow otherwise. Injector route might work as suggested, but I would like to feed into one of the windows of my ship's cockpit since playing without DK2 is not an option.
