DK2 without xbox controller

Hi, i finally burried out my dusty old dk2 to test the new version.
Well, installed everything without problems and it seems to run fine up to the point where i need to calibrate the headset.
I put on the headset and there it is, that stupid message "Press A on your xbox controller to continue...".
So, I don't have a xbox controller (or any other) and i surely don't want to buy one just to calibrate my DK2, but there seems to be no way to skip this. Actually, i can't do anything with DK2 at the moment, as soons as i start the oculus software, it just sits there and tells me to hit that stupid A button.

So, please, does anyone has an idea how to get around this?

Windows 7 onwards contains voice recognition. Switch it on and say "Press A".
If that doesn't work then say it a little louder.
Increase volume until windows accepts the command.

sorry

If it's the screen I think you are talking about, you just have to look directly at the area at the bottom of the text for about 2 seconds. It will proceed.
Also, I bought a cheap Logitech wired gamepad a few months back for laptop gaming and this works perfectly with the Rift.

I had lots of fun with Lucky last night! ;)

Thanks for all your suggestions, unfortunatly none worked for me..

I borrowed a PS4 controller from my neighbor now, after installing 3 different drivers it finally got recognized and i got past that calibration screen... sometimes i just hate computers.. but that view from my asp while crashing down on the planet was awesome :p

Like I said, ignore / skip the hardware set up options. I installed 1.3 with my DK2 no problems skipping all the hardware parts as it was for CV1 and not the DK2. Only after 2 hours did I dig out my 360 controller to have a go with Lucky's Tale.

Nope.

With the latest update it seems (unless I have missed somehitng) that there is no option to skip anymore. Not even the pointer with the rectangle. I have installed the latest Oculus software so to be able to install in a differnet drive than the system one and now I am presented with a dark blue screen with some smoke telling me to stand up and click the A controller button which I dont have... The original version had a white-ish screen instead and allowed to go through just by positioning a pointer inside a rectangle. I cant go past this blue screen.

Is there anything I am doing wrong? Or does that mean that the new versions of the Oculus software only work with controllers?

It looks like I am going to have to install the older version again but just wanted to check with you first as it seems a bit odd that the rectangle and the pointer are gone now.

I have tried the brute force method above (i.e. deleting the appdata folders) and that helps me in getting abck to the usual Oculus sign up / log in screen etc. Skipping the hardware configuration now does not work for me as the sensor ends up not recognized at all... when I put on the DK2 my view is aligned around 45 degrees to the left of the center and I have no way to recenter the thing. Even moving the sensor does nots eem to do anything as its blue led is not on anyways.

Any ideas?

I had that happen quite often with Steam VR. This fixes it for me, it may, or may not, work for you. Unplug all the DK2 cables. Go into device manager and remove this.

Don't uninstall the driver. Plug the cables back in. Go to Action menu and Scan for Hardware changes.

Go into Steam VR and run the setup. The important thing seems to be the headset height. Launch Oculus home and it should work with a nicely centred view.

Nonsensical I know, but worth a try if nothing else.

Thanks for the help, but I do not have those Oculus lines in my Device Manager I am afraid...

I still have the problem that my sensor remains subronly undetected and it has no blue led light on. I know it is on USB3 and all etc. Its driving me nuts because a coulpe installs ago it actually detected it and my only issue was the controller. I do not really know what I did different but I know it worked. Any other ideas? Would be tremendously grateful.

I'm sure I read somewhere on this forum that the DK2 was about to have (or has already had) support dropped for it so the situation isn't going to get much better.

Fixed...

I feel so stoobid!

I had done and reinstalled clean everything as advised multiple times, clean registries, deleted applocal folders... but the only thing I didnt check was the "devices and printers" manager... in there I saw the DK2 camera showing as with a yellow triangle. Drivers for some reason were corrupted, Windows applied an automatic fix and voila. Back in the cockpit. Me so stoobid.
