If anything, the base game is full of African animals.
I doubt we will get an Africa based DLC anytime soon - if at all.

European animals, Australian ones, birds in general, aquatic animals, mountain animals, ice dwelling creatures ... so much to look forward to, though.

Would still be really neat to see some of these animals though, namely the
  • Blue wildebeest
  • Greater Kudu
  • Nile crocodile
  • Both Rhinos
  • Impala
  • Another lion subspecies
  • Masai giraffe
  • Giant eland
One animal not listed that I hope hope hope we get is the african leopard, these guys are always left out for some reason :(
also the black backed jackal, caracal and several

There are some very nice species on the list, that I would like to have in game ( Grevy's zebras , all the antelopes, cranes,...) but as @Deggial said, the game in its current state is very Africa-centred and given the leaks, the Africa centrism might be even bigger in full game, so for the game's own good I hope they focus on other continents first.

On a side note, if Lemurs are habitat animals, hyraxes, who are roughly the same size, has to be as well.

Well, they are not exactly common in zoos outside of US, so that might be the reason...For example I've seen 5 leopard subspecies + snow leopard but I'm yet to see the African...

One species you both mention that I would gladly omit though, is the Nile crocodile...Nile has pretty much no conservation value...I would appreciate much more adding species from one of the missing "familes" - alligator or caiman

True... but Bengal tigers aren’t really seen in zoos all that much either, people mainly see Amur (which I hope we get at some point!) or Sumatran tigers.
I’ve personally been lucky enough to see an African leopard in a zoo, beautiful animals, hope we see them!

I think only 2 were confirmed? the salt water Crocodile and the Gharial? Gharials are their own species though
I didn't see anything about the american alligator..

seeing which african animals already made their way into the game its kinda weird not to see an african rhino in the PZ roster yet. Not complaining about many african animals missing, but african rhinos should definitely be in a zoo game. Just like african elephants, Zebras oder Giraffes

The Africa Pack knocked out three popular wishlist animals but there are a few notable absences still. The two big ones that are high on the current meta-wishlist are the Hamadryas baboon and crested porcupine; otherwise I'd suggest the secretarybird and helmeted guineafowl as someone who advocates much more avian representation. We could also use one more antelope, either the giant eland or the greater kudu.
