Do Alliance-backers have a problem with the blatant hypocrisy of the Alliance?

So, did anyone else realize Prime Minister Mahon's recent speech at Alioth University, the one purporting how much the Alliance values freedom and liberty, is a load of crap?

For someone who purports to be so devoted to the ideals of liberty and self-determination, Mahon certainly tolerates a great deal of despotism and tyranny within the the borders of his own Alliance. Is it not ridiculously hypocritical for Mahon and the Alliance to allow dictatorships, as well as other restrictive, undemocratic forms of government, membership into their supposed 'bastion' of freedom and liberty?

I can list numerous systems controlled by Alliance-sponsored autocracies if need be, but I invite all who care to go look for yourself in the Galaxy map. A couple of the systems I found are big enough to have their System View screen accessible to folks who haven't visited, providing yet more proof that there are specific autocratic factions with Alliance backing. So, Alliance backers, what say you? If you're just backing them for the benefits, then that's one thing. But if you want to role-play that you're some sort of 'liberator' or 'freedom-lover' for backing the Alliance in Powerplay, check your facts: You're not.

Democracy doesn't imply freedom or liberty, nor do more autocratic governments imply the opposite. An enlightened despot will allow more freedoms and protect liberties better than a democracy made up of traditionalist bigots. Tyranny of the majority is a thing.

I think there is quite a bit of hypocrisy amongst Alliance supporters who go out of their way to annex systems into the alliance or who prevent those who no longer wish to be a part of their Alliance of Independent Systems have actual independence, but allowing non-democratic governments to be a part of the Alliance does not seem especially hypocritical to me.

OP, you see, the entire PP is a hastily done feature that simply adds "controlled by <name>" label on top of existing star system. Nothing about this system actually changes, to the point where you can come over to "former" Empire system, currently Federation controlled, and STILL cash in your Empire-issued bounties!

Because in fact, at its core it IS still Empire system. :)

What bothers me about the Alliance is that their minor factions seem perfectly willing to offer smuggling contracts for slaves. Slavery is supposed to be one of the biggest no-nos in the Alliance, so when I see those, I want an option to take the slaves to Alioth to be freed and have the smuggling contract replaced with an assasination contract on the leader of whichever minor faction was indulging in slavery!

Doesn't the Alliance allow the freedom of those systems to exist without outside interference?
The whole alliance was founded as the systems were sick and tired of the Great Powers imposing thier brand of "Freedom" or "Order" on the independents.

What you propose is to expel from the Alliance (or overthrow) any system whose form of governence does not match you chosen ideology as the water mark of Freedom and Liberty.

Where is the line?
Dictatorships and their top down Management style to exercise effective use of resources?
Unionist Confederacies and Lobbyist Patronages too restrictive of thier focus to be freedom for all?
Commuinism since equality and equality isnt obtained by vote?
Co-operatives free enough?
Certainlky not Corporate states, Theocracis and Feudal Realms, too out for their own good right?
And the Alliance Freemen? Anachist but not democratic as you require so not free enough.

Isnt the point of the allaince to be able to be free to find the right path, without outside interference
Afterall even Democracy...
Direct, One party, two party, multi party, Parlimatary, Presitential, Semi-Presitential, FFP, MMP, STV, which one must be imposed on All Alliance memebrs for them to live up to the speech and be truely free?

You clearly have the only true answer than once told everyone must agree with, otherwise, it is just a view and not the absolute emboiment of "liberty and self-determination"
