Do any of you Rifters use a green HUD? If so which?

Hi

I don't like using custom HUD colours because there is always something wrong with them. BUT I haven't really experimented.

I want to use a green one because... Rift.

Does anyone out there have a decent green HUD setup which still allows quick identification of friendlies, hostiles, neutrals, wings etc.

Thanks!

Do you use DrKai's EDprofile switcher? It has a list of HUD colour schemes you can just click and select, or it makes it easy to create and save your own. Not in game at the moment but I use a green, avatar friendly scheme, works well for me :)

Code:
-<GraphicsConfig>
 <GUIColour>
    <Default>
      <LocalisationName>Standard</LocalisationName>
        <MatrixRed>0.04, 0.25, -0.29</MatrixRed>
        <MatrixGreen>0, 0.25, 1</MatrixGreen>
        <MatrixBlue>0.4, -0.08, -0.5</MatrixBlue>
    </Default>
 </GUIColour>

</GraphicsConfig>

This is a green HUD which maintains most of the portrait colours (slightly tweaked version of GMBrgs UI colours from Dr Kaii's EDProfiler)

Add it to
Code:
<systemdrive>:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml
and reduce ingame dashboard brightness to 0 - you'll find text is much clearer, and suffers less from crawling.

This is the one i use, it's great

I tried different green settings , but always felt like I was on a night mission in some other military flightsim. I settled on blue. Easy on the eyes and easy to read.
<Default>
<LocalisationName>Standard</LocalisationName>
<MatrixRed> 0, .3, .5 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 0, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 1, 0, 0 </MatrixBlue>

I'm using one that's mostly cyan (which still has a lot of green) in the ship, and is more greenish in the station UI:

Code:
<MatrixRed> 0.05, 0.25, 0.6 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 1, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 1, 0, 0 </MatrixBlue>

I really hope FD release a colour setting fo VR. Green or light blue text but the scanner colours staying the same as the original.

yeah that's my issue with trying different colours is the Scanner changes so you have to adjust accordingly, I'm trying to find the best balance plus what the Station Screens are like, might try Blue.

Dr. Kaii's Profile Switcher has a VR color preset that is basically *teal* and very eye-friendly in the Rift, in particular for text. IIRC green works best in VR because of how the Pentile display works. The Problem is, it changes the other colors as well, so it's hard to tell friends from foes and both of them from neutral, among other things, so I dropped it after some time and just go with the standard one nowadays, turned down brightness to one dot and slightly raised the second parameter for the red value to IIRC 0.19. That's been ok for me since.

This is a late reply but I use the "distintive Green by edgepixel" preset of CMDR Dr.Kaii's Profiler v3.3. In the implemented HUD Colors Editor it looks as follows:

1609651079755.png

I am very happy with that but you might want to turn up the brightness of the HUD a little as the red is a little dark. And don't worry it isn't as bright as in the editor.

The green hud thing is only worth considering on the cv1, vive 1 & pro, maybe original quest, native panel res is fairly higher than the rest.

The rift-s, and every hmd since run full rgb panels you won't get any added resolution by going green anymore.
