Do I need a refinery for an exploration vessel?

G'day,
Finally I have upgraded the Diamondback Explorer to an Asp Explorer which shortly I will be taking for a run, going to land and use the SRV to collect materials. Perhaps even find some meta-alloys.

1.Do I need a refinery onboard to process the materials to refuel the SRV?
2.Does the SRV refuel itself?

Happy to hear any suggested hints.

many thanks

in a bit more detial you don't need a refinery and if you have the correct materials for refuelling eh SRV (which are really common) you cna refuel it whenver you like but you do need to synthesise it every time you want to refuel (basically select the option to refuel)

... except that the refuel materials are very rare on some planets (Metal rich, IIRC). Be prepared to gather a few sulphur and Phosphorus elsewhere before you venture onto those.

Not really true. The basic refuel materials are Phosphorus and Sulphur. They pop up everywhere EXCEPT for Metal Rich. They never appear on them, so just make sure you carry enough for a refill.
