Do I need permission to dock?

Hello,

I have hyper jumped into the I Bootis system and wish to dock at the Chango space station.

I have maneuvered my space ship to see the entrance to the space station, but cannot seem to ask for permission to dock.

Can I please have some help in docking at this space station? Do I actually need permission, or can I just fly right in?

There is no permission to dock dialog when selecting the space station from the navigation menu. All I see is the option to "Lock Destination"...

a station becomes "visible" when you approached it to approx 15km - if its at 7.5km, view your left HUD, goto contacts, select the station, click it, and "request docking". you need to wait for approval (request granted), cause some stations let you request docking like 5 times.

i select the station as soon its in the contacts list, its "real" distance is a little smaller - due to its size (the distance is 3km less when selected, the radius from its middle to its outer perimeter gets subtracted)

You can't ask for permission to dock from the stellar objects list, you have to switch to the contacts list first. From there you can select the station and request docking permission.

You need to go into contacts, which is the next tab along from the lock to destination tab, then request dock.

If you just go in you get a tresspass warning, then only have about 30 seconds to get back out before your destroyed.

Also, remember that as soon as you get permission to dock the countdown timer starts, giving you 10 mins (I think) to land your ship.

yeah, and you also need your landing gear out.. and good luck with your first dock, and a vid would be funny, erm, I mean interesting. :)

I saw 70,000 and odd last week, and 90,000 and odd a day or so ago. So I reckon Mr 100,000 is already out there.

I'm on the look out.
