Newcomer / Intro Do I need rep to buy a Planetary Vehicle Hangar?

Because I'm sure I have Horizons (landing on the odd planet is a definite clue), and others who have asked this question get told that PVHs aren't that hard to find. But even using ED-TD or Roguey's to track down the most recent station, planetside or in space, to have one, I'm drawing a blank.

So is it like the X series, and the bigger, more prestigious purchases require a degree of goodwill from the station owners, or is there some kind of glitch with my software? I'd love to take a Scarab for a spin....

In addition to above -
No, you do not need rep to purchase a PVH.

You WILL however need to select an internal Optional Slot > browse shop in order to make the PVH's appear as available to purchase. And that slot will need to be of a size that can carry a PVH (cannot recall the limitations offhand)

Make sure that you open the Horizons start from the launcher. I had the same once, when I couldn't find an SRV anywhere. Somehow my launcher had scrolled down to the basic ED version!

PVH is a module that fits in a internal "optional" slot. It carries a bay (or two) to hold your SRV (bought separately). They are rather regularly available in outfitting.

(based on sol - dunno where you are)

I'm in the Brani system, flying a Viper.

All the search engines tell me they should be plentiful. Other equipment is listed with 'Out of stock' below, but not the hangar. If the problem is space, I'd expect to get a message to that effect when I clicked on something, not to have it withheld from view altogether. If it's a bug, can I be the only one affected? Seems unlikely.

Both the Viper III and IV can fit a PVH.

9 stations in Brani list as having a 2G and 2H PVH available.

You only see "Out of Stock" messages in the Core systems page of Outfitting.

You need to select the Optional Internal page, select either a size 2 or size 3 slot, select "Browse Shop" and look for Planetary Vehicle Hangar. Then you can choose which one to fit, then you have to select the new item on the left "Vehicle Bay" and go to store, buy SRV.

+ make sure you are in Horizons.

It's also a good idea to bookmark a few good high tech systems that regularly stock lots of modules.
My favourite place for outfitting is 109 Piscium Ising Dock as it stocks almost everything and has a 15% discount on outfitting.
I'm almost certain you will find the hangars you need there.

Well, there's where I went wrong. I hadn't realised I needed to swap my cargo rack for a PVH. Assumed a Viper III would've had room for both. I may come to miss the rack, so I guess I'd better monetise the Scarab as soon as possible.

Not for now, though, chores 'n' stuff beckon, so the ship is parked in a crater, on a planet near Jenner Port in LP 575-38 (solo play).

Thanks to everyone for the help :)

The good thing about buying and selling generally available modules is that you always get the purchase price back.
