Do I need to change systems for navy rank progression?

Hey everyone!

My question is do I need to go to the systems that I'm told to go to (from the permits) to continue the navy rank progression? Or can I just stay in the same system and do missions there to get the next rank again?

You can stay where you are. The permits are just that, permits.

You have to go there once. You dont have to take the progression mission there.

I had to wait with the mission because i had several mission cargos on board of the wrong ship, so i just did a short visit to the mentioned system, took a look at the mission, decided to do it later and went on. I got the same progression mission offered again at the next federation station.

Maybe, i dont know.

But my personal mission chain didnt progress until i did one fast visit to the system, and i got that mission offered over and over again like old bread, sometimes even twice on one station, after that visit. Mission step and faction: Federation, Beta Hydri permit.
