Do I need to rescan bodies?

I discovered and DSS scanned some planets before the changes that introduced the FSS and the new system of using probes to scan bodies. Will those planets still show me as the first to scan them, or is it necessary to return to them to scan them with probes.
Please and thanks.

The scan you did with the old DSS is essentially equivalent to using the FSS now. Any bodies you scanned using the old DSS got you a "first discovered" tag, which you will still have. The new "first mapped" tag will be given with the new functionality of the DSS. In other words, you will retain the "first discovered" tag but you would need to go back and used the probes to get the "first mapped" tag, if you so desire.

Thanks. That's rather annoying. I had hoped that I wouldn't have to return, but at least everyone's in the same boat with previous discoveries.

Your "first discovered by" Tag will still be there. So if you open up the system map on a system you know you've already discovered, or if someone else visits a system where you first discovered things, they will still see this (only with your name there):

If you go back there and use the DSS to map "your" planet (and then sell the mapping data somewhere), it will look like this:

And if someone else uses the DSS and sells the data on one of "your" planets first, or if you discover and Map a planet that's been First Discovered by someone else, it will look more like this:

So, you don't "lose" any First Discovery Tags; they just get shared with whoever gets the First Mapped Tags, whether that's you or someone else.
