Do Loadout Costs Vary From Ship to Ship?

The title says it all. I've been flying my trusty Sidewinder since I started playing a couple of weeks ago and I've finally saved enough to purchase a Cobra, plus a little extra for ship additions. However, before I start hunting for a Cobra seller, I wanted to know if the cost of loadouts for ships differ, based on the ship?

For example, a Class 1, D-rank Cannon is 21.1k credits for a Sidewinder - is this price the same for a Cobra? I couldn't find pricing for individual parts on a ship-to-ship basis online, so hopefully someone here can clear this up!

Many Thanks,

Bigger ships will have bigger external and internal hardpoints which carry bigger classes of equipment.

Larger classes of equipment scale up in price quite fast. The same class of equipment should have the same price.

So in your example a class 1 gun is 20k and can be fitted to the cobra for 20k. However the sidewinder has 2 class 1 Hardpoints. The Cobra has hardpoints that will fit 2 class 1 weapns and also 2 class 2 weapons. You could fit class 1 weapons to the larger hardpoints, or fit more expensive class 2 ones.

Would you be able to provide a quick example? I just want an idea regarding just how much a jump in cost I should expect. I'm sure a vanilla Cobra can handle itself, but I would like to be able to give it a few upgrades before taking it to deep space, particularly for the power plant, power distributor, and shields at minimum to start...

Thanks for the quick response! :)

Am at work now, if someone hasn't posted any examples by time i get onto E: D before i do i'll post some examples.

They vary significantly.

My mostly A grade Viper costs over 3M cr. Important upgrades (FSD, Power Plant, Thrusters) cost over .5M a piece. Similar or more expensive for the A grade Cobra parts.

I don't think individual components vary in cost, so a F1 pulse laser costs as much on a Sidewinder as it does on an Anaconda (I think), but with the larger ships you need to spend a lot more on larger class parts to get performance improvements.

The A4 upgrades for shield, power, FSD all cost 1.6m each. The B grade ones are around 500,000 but are really heavy and hurt your jump range quite badly. The C grade ones are probably the bare minimum I would go with and cost around 160,000 each (numbers are ballpark I am not near the game right now!)

Thank you for this.

Wow... Well, I suppose this means I'll have to make a few smuggling missions and, ah, "cargo reclamation" runs with the Cobra's extra vanilla cargo space and start saving for a new goal.

As long as I have enough for at least two multi-cannons for the two new mounts, I should be good to start, then. I've been spending most of my time in Anarchy space, so I suppose a trek back into nearby Federation space for some ship shopping is in order.
