Do Not Disturb signs

Totally not sure myself, but I assume it is a sphere of influence of some sort, though the effect once a visitor enters it may carry with them or something after they pass through it.

All I know is that they work, but not very strong. When an animal is really stressed about the noise, the signs do not always work enough. But in combination with one-way glass they work good.

I thought it's mainly to reduce possible feeding and photographing. As for the noise, I don't think you can quiet a crowd of humans down by a mere sign. You'd probably need at least a caretaker with a tranq-gun
(In all seriousness, though, the only thing that subjectively seems to be working against the noise is higher walls)

The game isn't really all that good at communicating these things towards us.

There's a separate sign for the feeding. The be quiet signs are tied into the security aspect of the game in some way, I think they help the security guards make sure visitors aren't being annoying to the animals on purpose, like banging on the glass or something. No idea really though, but @HipsterJesus42 seemed to imply he knows how they work in one of his videos (he said he'd talk about it more in a future video), maybe he'll stick his head in here and give us some answers!

You guys had the right of it. I'm not sure how big the sphere of influence is, though, and people have reported mixed results. Sometimes they work by themselves, sometimes one way glass alone is enough. Yet, some people are saying that even with both they have issues. From my own experience, the do not disturb signs work best in walkthrough habitats, while one-way glass works best for others. Only problem is that sometimes the hecklers still taunt the animal through the glass. Do not disturb signs don't always fix this behavior, so I'm honestly inclined to say it's a bug where the guests fail to recognize the one-way or something.
I'll have to delve into the specifics more when I have time.

Awesome thanks! I was just curious, i know howthey work i just was curious about the sphere of influence, how often i should place them how far off the path i can place them to prevent vandalism etc. I use them alot for my petting zoo area xD

On a similar note, how do you know your guests are feeding your animals? Cause I had no idea it was a feature until I saw a youtuber mention it but I haven’t really been able to witness anything from it in my game.

You'll get an alert in the upper left that tells you, in the same place you see the inbreeding message, etc.

In over 300 hours of play I've only seen the message once. I normally build my barriers too high for guests to feed the animals that they can feed I think, but in that one instance it was only about a 1m fence on a grizzly habitat. I've never received the message for the animals I always make short barriers (or walkthrough habitats) for, like peafowls, turtles, pangolins....so I guess either guests can only feed specific animals, or my security guys are that good.

Thanks, considering my whole entrance of my zoo is pretty much a petting zoo/greenhouse I found it odd to not have seen it yet. But I guess my food area is a bit too far away and I placed enough bins.

Oh i know that, ive dealt with it a bunch, thats why i wanna get more information on positioning. xD
If I were to conduct an experiment, which I likely will when this topic rolls around (will probably include it in a video about stress), I would find somewhere where people are bothering animals, and then place a sign far away. Watch, see if they stop. Move it closer. Stow, watch, rinse, repeat until you start to see the sphere of influence start to emerge. With other, similar features (education boards needing to be within a cylindrical radius of barrier bottoms for example), there is a definitive range. We just need to figure this one ourselves, as there is basically zero explanation or help with this feature in-game. An oversight imo.

I have highly skittish Springboks, and I am stupid enough to place glass barriers with a mote. I pretend the silence signs are like everything else with a circle around it. Everybody around it should be silenced.

This is my setup:

The welfare is a bit lower than normal because I haven't developed the nutrition yet.And social not 100% because there are only two. There should be 3 or more. But they are doing fine :)

@Dr4gon Nice. I keep being skeptical about it working because people post that they don't work, but I've hardly had issues with them. I think there's probably more range to them than that, but better safe then sorry I suppose.

One more data point from my latest zoo -- originally after I added the Do Not Disturb signs my pronghorn antelope calmed down and never became stressed. But after my zoo expanded and more and more guests arrived, the crowd watching the antelope grew bigger and the same signs no longer seemed to have enough effect. The crowd was in the same area, just something like 8 deep instead of 4 deep.

So maybe the signs don't have a radius of effect exactly, but counter a specific number of guests.

I've experienced the same thing. It is one of the (many) reasons I am limiting the number of guests even in my large zoos in options now that we can do that even in franchise mode. My current view has a size and rating that it'd probably have 5000+ visitors but I have the limit set to 2500 atm and it still is profitable, so it's good enough for me.

Wait WHAT? We can do that in franchise mode? How did I miss this. 🤦‍♂️
We can! It came with the 1.03 patch I think. I missed it too until a few days ago...I made a post here announcing it cause I figured I wasn't the only one who missed it. The patch notes said they added it to challenge mode, but never mentioned Franchise.
