Do not Merge Odyssey and Horizons together untill Odyssey is as stable as Horizons

Dear Frontier, please do not merge Horizons and Odyssey together untill Odyssey is on the same level as Horizons (same performance and same amount of bugs). I did not buy Odyssey because I don't want to play it, the bugs and performance issues are keeping me from it. I paid to play Horizons and i still want to play only Horizons. If some UI changes, fine. As long as it can do the same things I don't really care. But please don't merge those two versions together untill thye are on the same level. Currently it's the only stable and reliable version of Elite Dangerous and I don't want to loose it. I think I can speak for many other players here.

Horizons is perfectly fine to play, Odyssey would be not for me. I play on a laptop that won't be able to run Odyssey, so switching would force me out of a game I payed for. So please, I'm begging you. Keep them seperated for as long as you have too. If you don't, I'm afraid the playerbase will shrink.

Do it Frontier merge Odyssey and Horizons.

QOL updates coming Horizons in 2 days with the latest Odyssey upate, or should I call FDEV and get them to cancel the entire thing?

I think that for a while they should release the Horizons 4.0 client (aka Odyssey's client with Horizons limitations) as an optional client in the launcher, to let players accustom to it before the time it will be forced on Odyssey's full release next year.
I guess not before update 8 though.

PS: This would also ease the client switching for Odyssey's players who want to play space content with Horizons' players willing to use the new client. It's becoming annoying.

I thought that was the plan anyway... Like, they delayed because they want it to be ready for merging and console launch.
If it will be enough for you or anybody else remains to be seen, but at the moment they are doing exactly what OP suggests.

I bet Odyssey console sales will be very bad.

That's, I mean that's what the final release will be, everything that comes with the Odyssey client, the only thing Horizons players won't have is the advanced planetary landing suite and therefore won't be able to land on atmospheric planets!

It's already separated, keep it separated.
It's obvious beyond a doubt that customers who did not purchase Odyssey don't want it forced upon them.

Human beings have played your game for years, YEARS...and you erase their favorite discoveries by making the same planet now generate different terrain.
That's over the line.

Yeah, what i meant is release it earlier (not before update 8 though) as an option, before it'll become not an option with Odyssey's full release, so players will have time to accustom with the good and the bad of it (and there are also good things in the new client), without losing the ability to play with the old one (for a while).

PS: just to complete your statement, they obviously won't be able to get on foot too.

That's also been happening for years, and here I am still playing!
I've only had the game 1 year, but I fell in love with it and have just over 2000 hours in so I'll still be playing too I think.

I just love Horizons and want to continue playing it. From my perspective the company divided it's player base with this expansion and that's not good for the future of the game.

I just now (in game) sit in my Cobra 4 cockpit. Ship is docked at planetary port on planet with atmosphere (in black Bubble) and I'm enjoying how awesomely it with blue sky look around. Players obviously have different views on this DLC, for me personally it was neccessary step to allow me again enjoy this game after more as five years of playing. I'm however not even slightly supporting a way/technical state in which was this DLC released ...
